- • The Filipino Culture and Language Expert role at Welocalize, Inc. is a critical freelance opportunity focused on enhancing AI language models through culturally grounded, high-quality Marathi language evaluation and content creation. This role directly contributes to improving the accuracy, fluency, and cultural relevance of AI-generated text in Marathi, ensuring that language technologies better serve native speakers by understanding regional expressions, idioms, and contextual appropriateness. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between machine learning and authentic human language use, making AI interactions more natural and trustworthy for Marathi-speaking users worldwide.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include evaluating AI-generated responses for linguistic accuracy, grammatical correctness, and cultural relevance; identifying errors or unnatural phrasing and providing refined, high-quality rewritten versions; creating original, natural-sounding prompts and responses in Marathi to enrich conversational training datasets; conducting structured tasks such as preference ranking based on factuality and locality, grammaticality checks, and text improvement exercises; and collaborating asynchronously with global linguistics and AI development teams to share insights and ensure consistency in evaluation standards.

- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in linguistic evaluation and AI training methodologies, gaining hands-on experience with the processes behind large language model refinement. You will develop stronger skills in structured linguistic analysis, cultural annotation, and prompt engineering—competencies that are increasingly valuable in the AI, localization, and language technology industries. Additionally, you will contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Marathi language representation in AI, helping to ensure that future language technologies are more equitable, accurate, and responsive to the needs of Marathi speakers.
🎯 Requirements
- • Background as a teacher or professional experience in teaching, writing, or editing in Marathi (preferred but not mandatory)
- • Excellent written communication skills in Marathi with strong grammatical accuracy and attention to linguistic detail
- • Deep familiarity with cultural nuances, idioms, regional variations, and contextual usage in Marathi language
- • Comfort with structured linguistic tasks including preference ranking (factuality & locality), prompt-response writing, grammaticality checks, and text improvement/provision
