- ⢠Own and optimize high-value finance workflows including payroll, VAT, investor reporting, and tax operations to ensure accuracy and scalability
- ⢠Build and automate financial systems using spreadsheets, SQL, Python, and AI tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
- ⢠Lead month-end close processes, including journal posting, trial balance reconciliation, and management accounting reporting
- ⢠Design and maintain live P&L engines that surface actionable financial and non-financial insights to drive strategic decision-making
- ⢠Take full ownership of equity operations: manage cap tables, EMI option grants, shareholder communications, and related filings with HMRC and Companies House
- ⢠Lead R&D tax credit claims and ensure compliance with UK regulatory requirements for startups and scale-ups
- ⢠Serve as the primary financial liaison for leadership, delivering clear, timely, and actionable financial reporting for boardroom discussions and operational planning
- ⢠Identify and resolve financial bottlenecks across departments, improving cross-functional alignment and process velocity
- ⢠Analyze large datasets to detect trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost optimization or revenue growth
- ⢠Automate and elevate administrative finance tasksâfrom data collection to reportingâtransforming reactive processes into proactive, scalable systems
- ⢠Collaborate directly with founders and the finance team to shape the financial infrastructure of a high-growth startup
- ⢠Maintain strict attention to detail while managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- ⢠Ensure all financial documentation and filings are accurate, timely, and audit-ready
- ⢠Support fundraising efforts by preparing investor-grade financial models, forecasts, and performance dashboards
- ⢠Act as a key contributor to strategic initiatives that align financial operations with company growth objectives
- ⢠Continuously improve financial controls and compliance frameworks as the company scales
đŻ Requirements
- ⢠Experience in a finance and/or strategy role within a startup, consulting, investment banking, or M&A environment
- ⢠Proven experience with management accounting (month-end reporting, journal posting) and financial reporting (trial balances, financial statements, accounting principles)
- ⢠Strong analytical skills with proficiency in SQL and ability to analyze large datasets independently
- ⢠Experience automating financial processes using tools such as spreadsheets, Python, or AI platforms
- ⢠High level of organization and ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- ⢠Comfort working in chaotic, rapidly evolving environments with ambiguity
