- • Financial Close & General Ledger AI Research Specialist – You will apply deep operational accounting expertise to train and evaluate frontier AI models in financial close processes, ensuring they reason like experienced controllers.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing realistic close and GL tasks (reconciliations, accruals, intercompany eliminations), writing evaluation rubrics for correctness, reviewing AI-generated journal entries and variance analyses for accuracy, building reference close packages as benchmarks, and making the reasoning behind each close decision explicit for model learning.
- • Aptura Inc. partners with leading foundational AI labs to integrate institutional finance expertise into AI model development, operating remotely from London and San Francisco with a team of ex-Lazard and Partners Group professionals.
- • In this role, you will directly shape how AI models understand and execute financial close logic, advancing the intersection of accounting expertise and artificial intelligence while gaining experience in AI evaluation and prompt design for financial reasoning.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5–8+ years in operational accounting as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or close/GL lead
- • Experience running a close end-to-end with ability to quickly identify soft reconciliations
- • Hands-on experience with ERPs such as NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks
- • CPA, ACA/ACCA, or equivalent (preferred, not required)
- • Ability to explain why an accounting entry is correct — focusing on judgement, not just mechanics
