📋 Description

• As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Laurel Technologies, you will work directly with customers to design, build, and deploy AI-powered systems that solve real operational problems, embedding deeply with customer teams to understand workflows and ship production-grade solutions that create measurable impact.
• Day to day, you will work with customers and Laureates to understand operational workflows, design and implement production-grade solutions across backend services and integrations, write high-quality code in TypeScript and cloud infrastructure, own deployments end-to-end, debug complex systems, collaborate with Product and Core Engineering to turn field learnings into reusable capabilities, rapidly prototype functionality, translate ambiguous needs into technical plans, and help customers operationalize AI safely in production.
• Laurel is an AI Time platform for professional services firms, serving top accounting and law firms like EY and Crowell & Moring, processing over 1 billion work activities annually. The team comprises top talent in AI, product, and engineering, committed to redefining productivity by enabling workers to deliver twice the value in half the time.
• In this role, you will earn deep customer trust through technical execution, move pilots to production quickly, create reusable patterns that improve the core platform, identify durable product opportunities from custom work, bring clarity to ambiguous problems, operate with urgency and strong engineering judgment, and leave systems maintainable and scalable after deployment—directly shaping Laurel’s roadmap through field insights.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building production software systems
• Comfortable moving across backend, infrastructure, integrations, and customer environments
• Ability to independently architect and ship complex systems with minimal oversight
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive applications
• Experience with LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, orchestration frameworks, or applied AI systems in production
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments where requirements evolve quickly
• Clear communication with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
• Care deeply about speed, iteration, and customer impact
• Excitement to work directly with customers and own outcomes, not just tickets
