Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As a Forward Deployed Engineer at OpenHands Inc., you will serve as a critical bridge between the product and real-world customer environments, ensuring successful deployment and adoption of the OpenHands AI platform in enterprise settings.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include owning technical success for customer accounts from proof-of-concept through production, deploying OpenHands Enterprise on customer-managed infrastructure, building custom integrations (e.g., GitHub, Atlassian, OAuth, MCP), developing agentic use cases like CVE remediation and SDLC automation, running enablement sessions (onboarding, workshops, demos), and debugging complex issues across Kubernetes, containers, networking, and CI/CD systems.
- • You will operate within a remote-first, innovative engineering team at OpenHands Inc., a company building an open-source AI platform designed to accelerate development and embed AI-assisted coding into production workflows for engineering teams worldwide.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in production-grade AI tooling, customer-facing technical problem-solving, and platform extensibility, while directly influencing product evolution by surfacing field insights to shape future features, documentation, and playbooks.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer or in a deeply customer-embedded technical role
- • Strong proficiency in at least one backend or systems language (Python preferred), with experience building operational tooling and debugging production systems
- • Hands-on experience deploying and operating containerized workloads in customer or self-hosted environments, including Kubernetes, Helm, networking, certificates, and secrets management
- • Experience working directly with customers in production or high-stakes environments, with ability to navigate ambiguity, communicate tradeoffs clearly, and support tool adoption
- • Familiarity with modern developer workflows: CI/CD, Git-based collaboration, and developer tooling
- • Bonus: experience with identity and access patterns (OAuth, OIDC, SSO), MCP, agent/LLM tooling, OEM/platform integrations, field engineering, pre-sales, developer relations, or AI developer tools (e.g., OpenHands, Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation: $175,000 - $240,000 base salary, plus equity and bonus
- • Remote-first with flexible hours (core hours 12–4pm ET | 4–8pm UTC)
- • Fully covered U.S. health, vision, and dental insurance
- • Unmetered PTO + holidays
- • Opportunity to collaborate with world-class engineers, product builders, and AI researchers
- • Real influence over product direction by representing the voice of customers running OpenHands in production
