📋 Description

• Forward Deployed Engineer role at OpenAI focused on turning research breakthroughs into production systems for strategic customers in Stockholm.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include owning technical delivery from prototype to stable production, building full-stack systems, embedding with customer teams, scoping work, making trade-offs between scope/speed/quality, contributing code when needed, codifying working patterns into tools/playbooks, sharing field feedback with Research/Product, and keeping teams moving through clarity and follow-through.
• The Forward Deployed Engineering team operates at the intersection of customer delivery and core platform development, partnering directly with customer engineering and domain teams, and collaborating closely with Product, Research, Partnerships, GRC, Security, and GTM teams.
• In this role, you will learn to deploy frontier models in production, gain deep insight into how model behavior affects product experience, develop skills in technical scoping and system design under ambiguity, contribute to product and model roadmaps through eval-driven feedback, and build reusable tools and playbooks that scale across deployments.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience including customer-facing work
• Experience scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving or ambiguous environments
• Ability to write and review production-grade code across frontend and backend using Python, JavaScript, or comparable stacks
• Experience building or deploying systems powered by LLMs or generative models and understanding how model behavior affects product experience
• Strong communication skills with engineers, product teams, and customer stakeholders
• Ability to simplify complexity and make fast, sound decisions under pressure
