• • As a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer at Ascertain, you will occupy a pivotal position at the nexus of product development, core engineering, and the practical realities of customer operations. Healthcare organizations are characterized by intricate and often fragmented systems, encompassing payer portals, practice management systems, legacy workflows, and extensive use of spreadsheets. Your primary responsibility will be to deeply understand this complex operational landscape and leverage that insight to shape Ascertain’s product, ensuring its efficacy in practice, not just in theory.
• • You will engage directly with our customers, translating their unique workflows and specific edge cases into robust, production-grade solutions. This involves integrating disparate systems, extending existing workflows to accommodate Ascertain’s capabilities, and developing bespoke features where necessary. Crucially, you will also be instrumental in identifying recurring patterns and challenges within customer environments. This intelligence will be fed back into the core product development cycle, enabling us to solve problems comprehensively and ensure scalability across our entire customer base.
• • This is a foundational role as a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer. You will play an integral part in establishing the operational playbook for this function, with significant opportunities for growth. This includes the potential to evolve into pod leadership roles and, over time, people management responsibilities, should your career aspirations align with these paths.
• • The role operates on a hybrid model within New York City, reflecting our commitment to fostering in-person collaboration. We anticipate regular engagement in our NYC office, typically around two days per week, interspersed with customer travel. Regardless of your primary work location, this role demands close collaboration with the product team and requires occasional travel to customer sites, estimated at approximately 10–20% of your time.
• • You will report directly to the Chief Product Officer, working within a dynamic and fast-paced environment where your contributions will have a direct and measurable impact on the company's trajectory and the success of our customers.
• • Key responsibilities will include: deeply understanding customer workflows and operational challenges; designing and implementing integration strategies between Ascertain's platform and diverse healthcare IT systems; developing custom solutions and extensions to meet specific customer needs; acting as a technical liaison between customers and the core engineering/product teams; identifying and documenting common patterns and requirements for product enhancement; contributing to the development of best practices and playbooks for the Forward Deployed Engineer role; troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in customer environments; and providing feedback to product and engineering teams to drive product improvements and scalability.
