Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end fraud analytics lifecycle for ClearScore’s global user base, translating raw data into actionable intelligence that directly protects millions of consumers from financial crime and identity theft.
- • Partner daily with the Head of Risk & Compliance and the Head of Security to design, build and refine fraud-detection models, rules and thresholds that balance customer friction with industry-leading security standards.
- • Mine terabytes of behavioural, transactional and third-party data to surface emerging fraud patterns—everything from synthetic identity creation and account-takeover spikes to mule-account networks—then present clear, story-driven findings to senior stakeholders.
- • Create and maintain a real-time fraud-risk dashboard that surfaces KPIs such as fraud-loss rate, false-positive ratio and investigation turnaround time, enabling the business to react within minutes rather than days.
- • Lead deep-dive investigations into high-value or high-complexity cases, producing forensic-quality evidence packs that satisfy both internal governance and external regulator expectations.
- • Collaborate with Product squads to embed fraud-prevention controls directly into new feature designs, ensuring that innovations such as open-banking connections or BNPL offerings launch with “secure-by-default” architecture.
- • Design and run controlled A/B experiments to quantify the impact of proposed rule changes, delivering statistically rigorous recommendations that optimise both customer experience and fraud-loss reduction.
- • Build and mentor a small virtual team of junior analysts and data scientists, establishing best-practice documentation, code repositories and peer-review standards that outlive the 6-month contract.
- • Liaise with external partners—credit bureaus, card schemes, law-enforcement units and industry fraud forums—to ingest new data feeds, benchmark ClearScore’s performance and influence the next generation of fraud-prevention standards.
- • Champion a culture of continuous learning by hosting fortnightly “Fraud Insight” sessions, sharing real-world case studies and threat-intelligence updates that keep the entire company one step ahead of organised crime groups.
- • Deliver monthly board-level briefings that translate complex analytical outputs into concise, risk-weighted narratives, empowering executives to make fast, evidence-based decisions on product strategy and capital allocation.
- • Ensure all analytical work meets GDPR, PCI-DSS and FCA regulatory requirements, maintaining meticulous audit trails that demonstrate ClearScore’s commitment to consumer protection and ethical data use.
- • Contribute to the long-term fraud-risk roadmap, identifying tooling gaps, hiring needs and strategic investments that will future-proof ClearScore’s defences beyond the initial contract period.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of hands-on fraud analytics experience within financial services, fintech or e-commerce, including proficiency in SQL, Python (pandas, scikit-learn) and data-visualisation tools such as Tableau or Looker.
- • Proven track record of designing and tuning rule-based and machine-learning fraud-detection models that have materially reduced fraud-loss rates in production environments.
- • Strong understanding of UK and EU regulatory frameworks (FCA, GDPR, PSD2) and how they impact fraud-prevention strategies.
- • Excellent stakeholder-communication skills—ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- • Nice-to-have: Professional certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or ICA Advanced Certificate in Fraud Prevention; experience with graph analytics or network-based fraud detection; familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure).
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote working arrangement with flexible hours and a £500 home-office setup allowance to ensure you have the best possible workspace.
- • Competitive day-rate benchmarked against top-tier London fintechs, paid weekly with no lengthy invoicing delays.
- • Access to ClearScore’s entire benefits stack for the contract duration—including premium private medical insurance, mental-health support and an annual learning budget of £1,500 for courses, conferences or certifications.
- • Opportunity to convert to a permanent role at the end of the 6-month contract, based on mutual fit and business needs.
