đź“‹ Description
- • Vana, Inc. is a dynamic and rapidly growing fintech company, established in 2018, dedicated to revolutionizing access to personal loans in Latin America. We specialize in providing quick, accessible, and user-friendly financing solutions through our intuitive Android application. Our core mission is to bridge the gap in consumer financing by leveraging non-traditional data sources and sophisticated machine learning algorithms, thereby extending credit facilities to individuals who may not qualify for traditional banking services. We are committed to addressing the substantial market demand for fast and affordable credit, empowering our users with convenient loan options that can be applied for and approved within minutes.
- • As a Fraud Data Scientist at Vana, you will be at the forefront of protecting our platform and users from fraudulent activities. This critical role involves the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning models aimed at identifying anomalous behavior, detecting suspicious transactions, and uncovering complex fraud-related patterns. You will immerse yourself in large-scale, diverse datasets, applying both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques to continuously strengthen our fraud detection capabilities and automate crucial decision-making processes. This position demands a profound understanding of the challenges inherent in imbalanced classification problems, robust feature engineering skills to extract maximum predictive power from data, and the agility to adapt models to evolving user behaviors and emerging fraud strategies.
- • Your responsibilities will span the entire data science lifecycle. You will conduct in-depth data analysis to explore vast transactional and behavioral datasets, seeking to uncover subtle yet significant patterns indicative of fraudulent activity. A key part of your role will be the development and rigorous validation of classification models, meticulously tailored to address the inherent class imbalance between legitimate and fraudulent transactions. You will be instrumental in feature engineering, creating innovative and derived variables that not only enhance model performance and generalization but also effectively mitigate the risk of overfitting. Collaboration is central to our success; you will work closely with our engineering, product, and operations teams to ensure the seamless integration of your models into our live decisioning flows, translating complex data insights into practical, real-world applications.
- • Furthermore, you will be responsible for monitoring the performance of deployed models in production, proactively identifying any degradation or shifts in fraud patterns. This monitoring will inform iterative improvements and strategic adjustments to combat evolving threats. A passion for continuous learning and innovation is essential, as you will be expected to stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning techniques specifically for fraud detection within digital transactional environments. This includes exploring new algorithms, methodologies, and research that can provide a competitive edge in fraud prevention. Your work will directly impact Vana's ability to operate securely, maintain user trust, and scale responsibly in a competitive market. You will contribute to building a robust and resilient platform that serves our growing customer base effectively and ethically. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, a proven ability to translate complex data into actionable insights, and a deep curiosity for understanding the nuances of consumer behavior in the digital lending space. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a tangible impact in a fast-paced, mission-driven fintech environment.

- • 1-2 years of professional experience in Data Science or Data Business Analytics with a proven focus on Machine Learning.
- • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Python and SQL.
- • Demonstrated knowledge of fraud detection, anomaly detection, or modeling techniques for imbalanced datasets.
- • Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to extract actionable insights from data.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and benefits package.
- • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and machine learning models.
