📋 Description

• As a Full-Stack Engineer on the ChatGPT Learning team at OpenAI, you will play a pivotal role in transforming ChatGPT from a tool for one-off answers into a dynamic, evolving platform that supports sustained learning, skill development, and personal growth for millions of users worldwide. Your work will directly contribute to expanding access to high-quality, AI-powered educational experiences, helping individuals understand complex concepts, build new competencies, and achieve their goals through intuitive, engaging, and effective interactions with AI.
• You will design and implement end-to-end product experiences that integrate multimodal capabilities—combining text, images, voice, and interactive interfaces—to create rich, adaptive learning workflows within ChatGPT. This includes building responsive, accessible user interfaces using modern frontend technologies like React and TypeScript, while simultaneously developing scalable backend services and APIs in Python, Node.js, or similar languages to support real-time learning features across global user bases.
• You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, AI researchers, and platform engineers to rapidly prototype, test, and ship innovative learning features, translating cutting-edge advancements in large language models (LLMs) into tangible, user-centered products. Your role involves owning features from initial concept through production deployment, ensuring high standards of performance, reliability, usability, and UX quality throughout the lifecycle.
• You will drive continuous improvement by leveraging experimentation, A/B testing, and user feedback to refine learning experiences, identify pain points, and iterate on features that enhance engagement, comprehension, and long-term retention. This includes optimizing latency, reducing errors, and ensuring seamless cross-platform functionality across web, mobile, and emerging interfaces.
• You will join a mission-driven, interdisciplinary team at the forefront of AI and education, working within OpenAI’s culture of high ownership, intellectual curiosity, and ethical innovation. The team operates at the intersection of product engineering, design, and AI research, fostering an environment where technical excellence meets real-world impact in service of global learning equity.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in full-stack development while gaining unique exposure to AI-integrated product development, learning science, and scalable systems design. 🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in modern web technologies including React, TypeScript, and frontend development best practices.
• Strong backend engineering experience with Python, Node.js, or similar languages, including API design, database interactions, and service scalability.
• Proven ability to build and ship high-quality consumer-facing product experiences from concept to production.
• Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional teams with product, design, and research stakeholders.
• Familiarity with AI-powered applications, LLMs, or machine learning systems is a strong plus.
