- • Build, scale, and maintain responsive, modular web and mobile applications using modern front-end frameworks such as React and React Native.
- • Design and implement a reusable, scalable component library that adheres to internal design systems and ensures consistency across all user interfaces.
- • Optimize front-end code for maximum rendering speed, efficient data serialization, scalability, and security across diverse network conditions including low-bandwidth maritime environments.
- • Architect robust client-side state management systems to handle real-time, streaming data feeds from maritime telemetry, GIS systems, and video streams.
- • Collaborate directly with UI/UX designers to accurately translate Figma mockups into pixel-perfect, accessible, and high-performance user interfaces.
- • Coordinate closely with backend engineers to define and integrate API contracts using RESTful services and WebSockets for seamless data flow.
- • Write clean, predictable, and well-tested code with a strong emphasis on expanding test coverage using modern front-end testing frameworks like Jest, React Testing Library, and Cypress.
- • Debug and resolve complex client-side performance bottlenecks, state-synchronization issues, and rendering delays in data-intensive applications.
- • Translate complex real-time maritime data—including telemetry, GIS maps, and live video streams—into intuitive, responsive, and high-fidelity web and mobile interfaces.
- • Ensure all front-end applications meet accessibility standards and deliver consistent user experiences across devices and browsers.
- • Maintain and improve code quality through code reviews, documentation, and adherence to engineering best practices in a hybrid development environment.
- • Participate in cross-functional planning sessions to align front-end development with product roadmap priorities and user needs.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development workflows, tooling, and deployment pipelines for front-end applications.
- • Work in a hybrid model requiring three days per week in the Arlington, VA office with flexible working hours and occasional high-availability demands during critical deadlines.
- • Engage with innovative projects that enhance maritime domain awareness and contribute to the sustainable management of ocean resources through AI and robotics.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical engineering experience)
- • 4+ years of proven experience as a Front-End or Software Engineer building complex, data-heavy web and mobile applications
- • Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, React, and React Native
- • Deep experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Recoil) and integrating RESTful APIs or WebSockets
- • Strong mastery of modern layout systems (CSS Grid, Flexbox, Tailwind, or styled-components) with a proven track record of translating Figma mockups into pixel-perfect, accessible code
- • Familiarity with front-end testing tools (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)
