Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and deliver end-to-end product features that power the next generation of AI-driven construction intelligence. You will own the full lifecycle—from whiteboard sketches and user-story refinement to production deployment and post-launch iteration—of modules that let estimators upload multi-gigabyte plan sets, receive instant ML-powered takeoffs, and collaborate in real time with distributed teams.
- • Translate complex machine-learning outputs into intuitive, lightning-fast user experiences. Our AI models return millions of polygons, cost line items, and confidence scores; you will craft React/Next.js interfaces that render these results in under a second, expose interactive visual diff tools, and surface conversational AI suggestions through elegant chat-style widgets.
- • Evolve our service-oriented architecture to support 10× user growth. Today we run containerized Node.js microservices on AWS ECS with Postgres and Redis; you will help migrate critical paths to GraphQL, introduce event-driven patterns (Kafka/SNS), and design domain-driven boundaries that keep latency low while new AI features ship weekly.
- • Champion performance and reliability across the stack. You will profile browser bundles, implement code-splitting and lazy-loading strategies, and tune Node.js event loops to shave milliseconds off every interaction. On the backend, you will add circuit breakers, exponential back-offs, and canary pipelines so that releases happen multiple times per day with zero downtime.
- • Collaborate daily with AI engineers, product designers, and construction-domain experts in tight, cross-functional squads. You will join sprint planning, run architecture guild sessions, and demo prototypes to actual estimators on live job sites—turning field feedback into backlog tickets the same afternoon.
- • Rapidly prototype bold ideas—such as voice-controlled takeoff edits or AR overlay comparisons—then harden the winners for scale. We celebrate experimentation: if a weekend hack reduces takeoff time by another 10 %, you’ll see it in production the following week.
- • Uphold rigorous engineering standards while moving at startup speed. You will write TypeScript with strict null checks, maintain >90 % test coverage, and document APIs in OpenAPI specs, all without losing sight of the ultimate goal: delighting construction professionals who still rely on highlighters and spreadsheets.
- • Mentor junior developers and contribute to an inclusive, remote-first culture. Whether through pair programming, lunch-and-learns, or async RFCs, you will help the team level up and ensure that diverse voices shape our technical decisions.
- • Monitor, measure, and iterate. You will define SLIs/SLOs, set up distributed tracing, and run A/B experiments so that every feature’s impact on estimator productivity is quantified and transparent.
- • Ultimately, your code will shave days off the bidding process for multi-million-dollar projects, reduce material waste on job sites, and help general contractors win more work—making construction greener, faster, and more profitable.
