Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the entire P&L and daily heartbeat of a high-profile senior-living dining account, acting as the on-site CEO of a boutique restaurant that happens to be inside a life-plan community. You will translate the NexDine promise of “responsive, transparent, authentic hospitality” into every plated entrée, catered tea service, and 6 a.m. smile at the coffee station.
- • Drive culinary excellence by partnering with the Chef Manager to craft rotating, dietitian-approved menus that delight residents, respect physician-ordered textures, and still hit a 28 % food-cost target. You will taste, tweak, and teach—stepping into the kitchen to expedite during peak, plate VIP receptions, and demo new grab-and-go parfaits for the memory-care neighborhood.
- • Orchestrate flawless catering—from 300-person holiday galas to intimate 6-top birthday brunches—by writing BEOs, training service captains, and personally inspecting linen, china, and floral setups. You will maintain a 95 %+ “exceeds expectations” score on post-event surveys and turn resident families into raving fans who book next semester’s graduation brunch before they leave the building.
- • Build and protect a culture of safety and sanitation that exceeds state surveyor expectations. You will conduct weekly huddles on dysphagia protocols, audit walk-in temps with Bluetooth probes, and ensure every team member can demonstrate choke-saving and allergen procedures without hesitation.
- • Master the numbers: generate weekly flash P&Ls, reconcile inventory variances under 1.5 %, and negotiate fresh-produce contracts that save $3K per quarter without sacrificing quality. You will present financial dashboards to the Executive VP and client CFO, translating food-cost deltas into actionable stories that secure capital for new combi-ovens or patio furniture.
- • Recruit, coach, and retain a 25-person team of cooks, servers, and utility staff who average 18 months’ tenure—double industry norms. You will write 90-day development plans, schedule cross-training so every server can run a cappuccino machine, and celebrate “wins of the week” on Instagram to keep morale sky-high.
- • Be the face of NexDine to residents, families, and the client’s board of directors. You will host monthly “Chat & Chew” town-hall breakfasts, greet every new resident by name within 48 hours, and resolve service recovery issues before they reach Yelp or the administrator’s inbox.
- • Champion continuous improvement by piloting tech such as pre-order apps, table-side POS tablets, or AI-driven waste-tracking cameras. You will benchmark against sister communities, present ROI cases, and scale successes across the region.
- • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, labor, and health-department codes. You will lead mock surveys, manage workers’ comp claims to zero lost-time accidents, and ensure all certifications stay current in the LMS.
- • Foster a spirit of servant leadership—no job is beneath you. On any given day you might jump on the dish line during a call-out, mop a hallway spill, or deliver a late-night snack tray to a resident who just returned from the hospital, proving that NexDine leaders lead from the front.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of multi-unit or high-volume food-service management experience, preferably in senior living, hotels, or boutique restaurants
- • Proven P&L ownership with demonstrated ability to drive food cost below 30 % and labor cost within budget
- • Current ServSafe Manager certification and working knowledge of CMS, OSHA, and state health-department regulations
- • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Business, or related field (or equivalent operational leadership track record)
- • Proficiency in MS Office, modern POS systems, and financial dashboards; comfort with piloting new technology platforms
🏖️ Benefits
- • 100 % remote work flexibility with required monthly travel to the Maryland community and quarterly regional meetings
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance starting day one, plus 401(k) with company match
- • Annual performance bonus up to 20 % of base salary tied to resident satisfaction, financial, and safety KPIs
- • Tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 per year and paid certification pathways (ServSafe Instructor, CDM, CFPP, etc.)
