- • The Grants Financial Analyst II (Remote) position at Washington University in St. Louis plays a critical role in managing the financial lifecycle of research grants within the Department of Medicine, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting to support faculty-led scientific discovery.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include acting as a liaison to accounting departments, tracking grant submissions and awards in an online database, managing fund allocations with Principal Investigators, approving purchasing documents per grant policies, forecasting expenditures, processing complex correspondence with granting agencies, and overseeing grant closures including final reports and invention statements.
- • The role supports both post-award and, under supervision, pre-award activities such as proposal budget development, coordination of submission materials, tracking deadlines, and maintaining regulatory compliance knowledge.
- • The analyst works within the Department of Medicine’s grant financial operations team, contributing to accounts payable/receivable, budget reconciliation, financial reporting, and subaward invoice monitoring, all in a remote office environment with standard office equipment.
- • This position offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in university grant administration, federal and agency compliance, financial systems like Workday and SUBS, and cross-functional collaboration with researchers and administrators—building a strong foundation for advancement in research finance or grants management.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in grant administration, financial analysis, or accounting
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office suite for budget tracking, reporting, and data analysis
- • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for liaising with PIs, granting agencies, and internal teams
- • Knowledge of grant accounting principles, agency guidelines, and experience with systems such as SUBS or Workday (preferred)
