📋 Description

• Lead the accounting policy and financial reporting function at OnePay, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, ensuring all financial reporting complies with US GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Establish, maintain, and continuously update accounting policies aligned with current FASB and SEC guidance, translating evolving standards into actionable internal frameworks.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and accuracy of all consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring timely delivery to internal and external stakeholders.
• Design and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting to mitigate risk and support scalability as the company grows its product offerings and user base.
• Analyze the accounting implications of complex transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, new product launches (e.g., buy-now-pay-later loans, crypto integrations), and strategic partnerships with employers and HCM providers.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Product, Legal, and External Auditors to align accounting treatment with business initiatives and ensure audit readiness at all stages.
• Drive modernization of financial reporting systems, processes, and controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in a high-growth fintech environment.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and regulatory bodies, providing documentation, responses, and explanations to support clean audit opinions and compliance outcomes.
• Translate technical accounting guidance into practical business decisions that enable product teams to launch innovations while maintaining financial integrity and compliance.
• Proactively identify gaps in accounting processes and implement improvements to support rapid scaling of financial operations across a multi-product consumer fintech platform.
• Ensure accurate and timely disclosure of financial information to executive leadership, investors, and board members, with clear communication of risks, assumptions, and impacts.
• Maintain deep awareness of industry trends in consumer fintech, embedded finance, and digital payments to anticipate accounting challenges and shape proactive policy responses.
• Foster a culture of accountability, precision, and ownership within the accounting function, setting high standards for documentation, analysis, and reporting quality.
• Support the company’s mission to help unbanked and underbanked Americans achieve financial progress by ensuring transparent, compliant, and scalable financial infrastructure underpins all products.

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in accounting within financial services, fintech, or a high-growth technology environment
• Deep expertise in US GAAP, technical accounting research, and financial reporting requirements
• Experience evaluating complex transactions and translating accounting guidance into practical business decisions
• Proven ability to build and improve internal controls and reporting processes in a scaling organization
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working with auditors, regulators, and executive leadership
