- • Lead regulatory strategy, risk governance, and compliance operations for BJAK’s UK market entry and expansion, ensuring alignment with FCA requirements and UK financial services regulations.
- • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance frameworks covering AML, KYC, data privacy, consumer duty, distribution, and claims-related obligations.
- • Serve as the primary liaison with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other UK regulatory bodies, managing regulatory submissions, inspections, and ongoing supervision.
- • Interpret evolving regulatory changes and translate them into actionable business strategies to enable safe scaling of digital insurance products and services.
- • Build and operationalise monitoring, testing, and reporting processes to ensure continuous compliance across all UK-facing activities.
- • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify compliance gaps and lead remediation efforts with cross-functional teams.
- • Embed consumer protection principles—fairness, transparency, and responsible selling—into product design, marketing, pricing, and distribution practices.
- • Oversee product compliance reviews, marketing material approvals, and distribution channel governance to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- • Establish and manage complaint handling frameworks that meet FCA expectations and promote customer trust.
- • Partner with product, legal, operations, marketing, and commercial teams to provide real-time compliance guidance on new initiatives, partnerships, and distribution models.
- • Deliver targeted compliance training to non-compliance teams to foster a company-wide culture of regulatory awareness and accountability.
- • Ensure internal audits, control testing, and compliance reviews are systematically conducted and documented to demonstrate regulatory readiness.
- • Champion responsible innovation by positioning compliance as a strategic enabler of growth, not a barrier to execution.
- • Build scalable compliance systems capable of evolving from early-stage market entry to mature, high-volume operations.
- • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK insurance regulations, digital financial services compliance, and emerging regulatory trends in insurtech.
- • Represent BJAK as a trusted and proactive partner to regulators, industry stakeholders, and external auditors.
- • Support the development of a compliance function that scales with the company’s international growth trajectory.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of compliance, risk, or regulatory experience within financial services, insurance, insurtech, or fintech
- • Minimum 1 year of experience in the insurance industry
- • Deep understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, including FCA rules and Consumer Duty requirements
- • Proven ability to design policies, conduct risk assessments, and manage complex compliance programs
- • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including direct experience engaging with regulators
- • Based in the United Kingdom with flexibility for hybrid work and occasional regional travel
