📋 Description

• Lead the engineering function at a fast-growing clinical AI startup backed by Mayo Clinic Platform and top healthcare VCs, shaping the future of applied AI in healthcare by scaling systems that directly improve patient outcomes across thousands of nurses and 100,000+ patients weekly.
• Own end-to-end technical leadership across the full stack (TypeScript, Python, AWS, Supabase/PostgreSQL), maintaining ~50% hands-on involvement in architecture, code reviews, and technical scoping while driving enterprise-grade reliability and deployment speed.
• Scale and manage the existing engineering team of 6 engineers in São Paulo while hiring 2–3 US-based engineers to establish the NYC founding team, growing the organization from ~11 to 15–20 engineers by year-end.
• Partner directly with founders on product roadmap, R&D initiatives, and the company’s near-term technical north star: building a virtual hospital/hospice simulation lab using synthetic patients to advance clinical AI innovation.
• Champion engineering excellence, reliability, and velocity — ensuring Dart deploys across thousands of nurses in 2–3 weeks — a key differentiator rooted in your technical leadership and process design.
• Contribute to recruiting and interview processes across engineering and beyond, helping build a high-trust, high-impact culture as the team scales.
• Join a mission-driven team building HOMER-1, the first Clinical AI Machine, focused exclusively on tools that improve patient outcomes — not administrative automation — serving the largest home health and hospice enterprises in the US.
• Thrive in an in-person, collaborative culture in a spacious NYC office near Madison Square Garden, with opportunities for customer travel, milestone celebrations, and offsites in unique off-the-grid locations.

🎯 Requirements

• 6–10 years of engineering experience with a proven track record as an engineering lead in high-impact, fast-moving environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading small, high-performing engineering teams, with a builder-first mindset and comfort staying ~50% hands-on in code and architecture.
• Startup experience (any stage) — ability to operate with autonomy, move fast, and thrive without heavy process, particularly in high-variability, trust-critical settings like healthcare AI.
• Strong preference for Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) experience — proven ability to sit at the intersection of complex customer problems and technical solutions.
• No healthcare background required, but deep curiosity about clinical AI and patient impact is essential.
