- • Lead and mentor multiple multidisciplinary Engineering Teams in Amsterdam focused on data-driven risk and financial crime products, driving technical strategy and execution for scalable, resilient systems that detect and mitigate financial crime across Adyen’s global payments platform, ensuring alignment with business lifecycle needs and regulatory standards.
- • Oversee the development and deployment of machine learning models and data pipelines for real-time and batch risk assessment, exploring and implementing cutting-edge AI technologies including GenAI and LLMs to automate manual investigation tasks, improve detection accuracy, and enrich context for human reviewers and models.
- • Collaborate closely with expert investigators, operations teams, Product Managers, and Data Scientists globally to understand workflows, integrate human feedback into automated systems, define product requirements, prioritize initiatives, and ensure risk capabilities are seamlessly embedded into Adyen’s platform.
- • Ensure systems are built with robust monitoring, explainability, and governance frameworks to meet regulatory requirements, maintain high quality and fairness, and stay informed about evolving financial crime typologies and AI/ML advancements to continuously enhance Adyen’s risk management capabilities.
- • Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture by mentoring technical talent, balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategic vision, and enabling teams to own their careers in an office-first environment that values in-person collaboration and diverse perspectives.
- • Contribute to Adyen’s mission of delivering innovative, ethical financial technology solutions that help businesses like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft operate with less friction, by building trustworthy, scalable risk infrastructure that protects the platform and its users at global scale.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading and mentoring multiple multidisciplinary Engineering Teams, fostering collaboration and high performance in technical environments.
- • Significant experience building and deploying data-driven systems at scale, ideally in Risk, Fraud, or Financial Crime domains.
- • Deep understanding of the machine learning lifecycle, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, deployment, monitoring, and experimentation.
- • Strong technical background in data processing, distributed systems, and programming languages such as Java or Python.
- • Familiarity with applying advanced AI techniques like Generative AI and Large Language Models to automate workflows or analyze unstructured data.
- • Experience working closely with non-technical stakeholders including Operations, Legal/Compliance, and Product teams.
- • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- • Ability to balance short-term needs with long-term strategic vision.
- • Experience in hiring and developing technical talent.
