Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Cape Privacy, Inc. is at the forefront of a critical mission: to redefine wireless communication by prioritizing privacy and security for individuals and organizations, especially those operating in sensitive national security environments. Founded by seasoned professionals from Palantir and Anduril with extensive experience in privacy and national security, Cape is not just another cellular service provider. We are building a revolutionary cellular network designed to empower citizens and government personnel to regain control of their most personal data – their location, movements, and associations. Our vision is to be a significant force for good in global wireless, transforming how sensitive data is managed and protected.
- • The federal government faces a significant paradox: the need for ubiquitous, high-bandwidth, low-latency communication is paramount, yet current infrastructure is often vulnerable to disruption and surveillance. Despite substantial investments, existing "secure" solutions are frequently cumbersome, proprietary, and fail under the slightest pressure in contested radio frequency (RF) environments. Cape is addressing this challenge head-on by developing a secure network architecture and operational capabilities that function even when networks are assumed to be compromised. We are moving beyond validated technology to create mission-critical infrastructure that ensures resilient communication for operators at the tactical edge, guaranteeing connectivity even when backhaul is jammed, intercepted, or severed. This role is pivotal in scaling these advanced capabilities.
- • As the Head of Federal Engineering, you will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction and execution of Cape's federal business. You will gain unparalleled insight into some of the world's most demanding operational environments. Your primary responsibility will be to bridge the gap between Cape's core technology and the highly specific, stringent requirements of our government partners. This involves architecting and implementing the technical vision for our federal engineering organization, ensuring the development of secure, resilient, and scalable networks and platforms that are essential for national security missions. Your leadership will directly translate our privacy-first philosophy into tangible capabilities that protect and empower public servants.
- • You will lead, mentor, and inspire a world-class team of engineers who are dedicated to solving the nation's most complex communication challenges. Fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and unwavering integrity will be key. You will empower your team to deliver solutions that meet the highest standards of excellence and impact, enabling them to work autonomously and make swift decisions within a community that tackles often-overlooked yet critical components of modern Command and Control (C2) systems.
- • A crucial aspect of this role is serving as the primary technical liaison and trusted partner to our federal customers. You will build and nurture deep relationships, translating their intricate mission requirements into deployed, effective solutions. This involves taking complete ownership as the technical authority for our federal engagements, ensuring that our engineering practices, security protocols, and delivery timelines not only meet but exceed expectations, setting new benchmarks for technology deployment within government sectors.
- • You will steer our engagement with the unique landscape of federal challenges and opportunities. Your role is to be the critical link between our innovative core technology and the specific, demanding needs of government partners, ensuring our solutions remain at the vanguard of innovation and are always mission-ready. This requires a deep understanding of modern software architecture, secure and distributed systems, and the nuances of operating in both cloud (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and air-gapped environments, along with familiarity with federal security compliance standards (e.g., FedRAMP, RMF, STIGs).
- • We are seeking a leader who embodies our core values: a relentless drive to build impactful technology, a belief in empowering teams to achieve the impossible, and a practical, thoughtful approach to problem-solving. You must be comfortable navigating constantly evolving environments with dynamic objectives and iterating closely with users. Your ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals, understanding the broader impact of technical decisions, will be essential. A strong grasp of cryptographic systems and designing privacy-conscious solutions is highly valued, as is the ability to learn new technologies quickly. You will balance a forward-looking technical vision with the concrete realities of government requirements, finding creative yet practical paths to deploy modern technology within highly regulated environments, ensuring solutions are accredited and effective.
- • This role demands more than just technical leadership; it requires diplomacy and strategic thinking. You will excel at building strong, collaborative relationships with government partners and internal stakeholders, translating complex mission needs into technical realities with clarity and conviction. You will be responsible for defining and executing the technical strategy for the federal engineering organization, aligning engineering efforts with customer mission objectives and business goals. Your ability to articulate complex technical concepts with authority to diverse audiences, from engineers to senior government officials, will be paramount.
🎯 Requirements
- • Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Physics or similar field.
- • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams that have built, deployed, and sustained software solutions for U.S. government, defense, or intelligence community customers.
- • Deep understanding of modern software architecture, particularly for secure, scalable, and distributed systems. Experience with both cloud (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) as well as air-gapped environments, and familiarity with federal security compliance standards (e.g., FedRAMP, RMF, STIGs) is essential.
- • Proven ability to define a technical strategy and execute against it, aligning engineering efforts with both customer mission objectives and broader business goals.
- • An active U.S. Top Secret (TS) security clearance is strongly preferred. At a minimum, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Top-tier health care coverage.
- • 401(k) matching program.
- • Generous paid time off policy that encourages actual usage.
- • Opportunity to work on mission-critical technology with significant national security implications.
- • A culture that values innovation, autonomy, and empowering employees to make a profound impact.
