• • As the Head of Legal at Partly Limited, you will be instrumental in shaping and scaling the company's legal infrastructure to support rapid global expansion and mitigate risk. Reporting directly to Co-founder Nathan Taylor, this pivotal role demands a proactive and strategic approach to legal operations, ensuring that as Partly grows, its legal framework evolves efficiently and effectively.
• • You will take full ownership of the commercial contracting lifecycle, encompassing customer, supplier, vendor, and partner agreements. This involves meticulous review, precise drafting, and skillful negotiation of contracts to facilitate swift business execution while maintaining robust risk management protocols. Your expertise will be crucial in enabling faster deal closures and securing favorable terms.
• • A core responsibility will be the establishment and refinement of scalable legal systems. This includes developing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of contract templates, clear playbooks, fallback positions, and a streamlined contracting process designed to operate seamlessly across diverse international jurisdictions. The goal is to build a legal infrastructure that can adapt and grow with the company without introducing unnecessary complexity or bureaucracy.
• • You will be the primary point of contact for managing and resolving legal disputes. This involves developing and leading response strategies, coordinating interventions with external counsel when necessary, and ensuring that lessons learned from disputes are systematically integrated back into legal playbooks and processes to prevent future occurrences.
• • A significant aspect of the role involves the strategic coordination of external legal counsel. You will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and managing relationships with law firms across key markets such as New Zealand, the UK, and the US. This includes ensuring cost-effectiveness, maintaining consistent tracking of legal matters, and upholding the quality of legal advice and outcomes.
• • You will act as a key enabler for internal teams, including Product, Engineering, Operations, and Finance. By embedding sound legal practices into their daily workflows, you will empower these teams to make faster, compliant decisions and build products and processes that adhere to legal standards.
• • This role requires you to serve as a trusted business advisor, providing pragmatic and commercially astute legal counsel to the leadership team and cross-functional departments.
