- • As a Senior Staff Software Engineer in Payments at Airbnb, you will provide overarching architectural guardrails with a focus on Community Partner experiences, driving the evolution of scalable payment systems that power global transactions, host/guest protections, and partner integrations.
- • Your day-to-day includes collaborating with senior leaders to define long-term technical strategy, architecting reliable and scalable solutions, leading multi-team initiatives, mentoring junior engineers through design/code reviews, and aligning technical efforts with business outcomes and product priorities.
- • You will join Airbnb’s Payments organization, a critical team responsible for settling money in the global marketplace, building delightful and intuitive payment experiences using both time-tested and cutting-edge technology while supporting millions of hosts and billions of guest arrivals worldwide.
- • In this role, you will learn to influence cross-functional governance, drive AI-enhanced workflow orchestration and decision support systems, and grow as a player-coach engineer — balancing hands-on implementation with mentoring others to foster innovation, quality, and inclusive team culture.
🎯 Requirements
- • 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- • Proven experience building, leading, and architecting production systems with broad impact
- • Demonstrated technical leadership including setting technical direction, leading project teams, and working cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Operations
- • Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- • Passion for mentoring others and fostering a collaborative, inclusive team environment
