Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Define and own the product vision and strategy for a civic technology platform aimed at reducing political polarization and strengthening democratic outcomes at global scale.
- • Translate a complex, multi-stakeholder civic problem into a clear, sequenced product roadmap that explicitly defines what the product will and will not build.
- • Lead the end-to-end development and iteration of the MVP, including user onboarding, participation in AI-facilitated civic dialogues, input synthesis, and policy delivery to elected officials.
- • Build an AI-native product organization by establishing workflows, tooling standards, and team norms that embed AI as the default mode of discovery, decision-making, shipping, and measurement.
- • Design and implement a comprehensive measurement architecture that defines success metrics at every stage, linking qualitative user insights with quantitative performance data.
- • Establish a culture of craft, speed, intellectual honesty, and user obsession within the product team, setting the standard for how product work is done in a high-ambiguity environment.
- • Attract, develop, and lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary product team composed of builders who thrive on solving one of the most complex product challenges of our time.
- • Model AI-first product development in practice by personally using AI tools to accelerate thinking, improve decision quality, and multiply personal and team impact.
- • Reason across interconnected domains including technology, civic participation, political incentives, and AI systems to anticipate second-order effects of design choices on user behavior and policy credibility.
- • Foster deep cross-functional collaboration across product, design, and engineering teams by proactively initiating conversations that build shared ownership and systemic buy-in.
- • Ship products that move millions of users to participate in live, video-based civic dialogues (e.g., the upcoming National Citizen’s Congress) and influence policy outcomes through data-driven, cross-partisan consensus.
- • Leverage AI (LLMs, bridging algorithms, world modeling) to identify the >80% of issues on which Americans agree locally and nationally, and scale those insights into actionable policy proposals.
- • Partner with Republican and Democratic mayors across the U.S. to pilot the platform and prepare for global expansion into other major democracies where Change.org already has hundreds of millions of users.
- • Balance rapid prototyping and iterative learning with a relentless focus on user delight, paying close attention to copy, transitions, and moments of friction or delight that compound into overall experience.
- • Operate with urgency and autonomy in a startup environment with direct accountability to C-level leadership, making smart tradeoffs with incomplete information.
- • Build systems that ensure the platform earns trust across audiences with competing political incentives, maintaining neutrality and integrity while driving mass adoption.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of product management experience at product-led organizations, with significant time in consumer-facing products
- • Demonstrated experience taking a product from 0 to 1 — defining the vision, shipping the MVP, and iterating into product-market fit
- • Strong evidence of product craft and design taste; ability to articulate decisions behind shipped products
- • Track record of building and leading high-performing product teams
- • Experience using AI tools to improve speed and quality of work; experience designing consumer AI product experiences is a plus
- • Experience operating in politically sensitive or multi-stakeholder environments where the product must earn trust across audiences with competing incentives is a plus
🏖️ Benefits
- • Annual salary of $330,000 USD + 20% target bonus
- • Compensation determined by a predetermined salary scale based on pay equity principles
- • Opportunity to shape the future of democracy through a globally scalable civic technology platform
- • Work with a pragmatic and ambitious team of top builders focused on urgent, high-impact problems
