📋 Description

• Lead and evolve the overall product design craft at Tandem Health, setting a high bar for usability, visual quality, and product thinking across all platforms.
• Mentor and develop product designers through direct feedback, collaboration, and coaching, fostering growth in a small but high-performing design team.
• Represent the design function in leadership discussions, shaping company-wide product strategy and decision-making alongside Product and Engineering leaders.
• Work closely with Product and Engineering to define product principles, execution pathways, and discovery practices including user research, prototyping, validation, and feedback loops.
• Contribute hands-on to product and interaction design when needed, maintaining deep involvement in the design process despite leadership responsibilities.
• Help define what exceptional AI-native product design looks like, integrating AI capabilities into both user experiences and the design workflow itself.
• Improve cross-functional collaboration between design, engineering, and product teams to increase alignment, momentum, and efficiency in a fast-moving environment.
• Establish and refine design systems, workflows, and processes to enhance team effectiveness, consistency, and scalability across complex product lines.
• Drive product discovery initiatives grounded in real-world clinician and patient needs, ensuring solutions are intuitive, empathetic, and clinically meaningful.
• Champion usability and simplicity across all interfaces, removing friction so clinicians can focus on patient care and patients can navigate their care journey with clarity.
• Balance strategic, long-term vision with hands-on execution, remaining deeply connected to the work while guiding the broader design direction.
• Operate effectively in ambiguity, adapting to evolving priorities in a scale-up environment where speed, ownership, and iteration are core values.
• Communicate design rationale clearly and persuasively, providing actionable feedback that elevates team output and fosters a culture of excellence.
• Build and sustain a culture of design excellence rooted in curiosity, craftsmanship, and impact, where every team member is empowered to challenge assumptions and innovate.

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience designing digital products with strong product and user intuition
• Exceptional attention to detail and a high bar for product quality
• Experience leading or mentoring designers, formally or informally
• A track record of personally driving meaningful product work from discovery through delivery
• Deep experience running user research, testing, prototyping, and validation as core parts of the product development process
• Strong systems thinking and experience improving design workflows and team effectiveness
