đź“‹ Description
- • Cape Privacy is at the forefront of a privacy revolution, building a cellular network designed to empower individuals and organizations with unprecedented control over their digital identity and data. Founded by seasoned professionals from Palantir and Anduril with deep expertise in privacy and national security, our mission is to be a significant force for good in the global wireless landscape. We are not just another mobile carrier; we are pioneers creating a privacy-centric movement that begins with the devices in our users' pockets. We firmly believe that personal information, such as our location, movements, and associations, is among the most sensitive data and deserves robust protection. At Cape, privacy is not about restriction; it's about enabling users to do more by building in essential features that safeguard their digital lives.
- • As the Head of Product Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in transforming our groundbreaking core technology into a globally scalable reality. Your primary responsibility will be to bridge the gap between world-class engineering and an exceptional enterprise and consumer-grade user experience. You will lead the charge in architecting and scaling a resilient platform that will serve as the foundational backbone for both high-growth consumer products and mission-critical enterprise solutions. This role demands a visionary leader who can scale the engineering organization effectively to meet the escalating demands of a rapidly evolving business, ensuring our capabilities are not only timely but also exceptionally resilient and secure.
- • You will be instrumental in shaping Cape's platform, which provides customers with end-to-end control over their digital identity, meticulously optimizing for resiliency, privacy, and security at every level. This involves revolutionizing how customers sign up for, use, and perceive their mobile phones. Our protection extends across the entire communications stack, from the mobile device itself, through our contested infrastructure, and deep into the core of the network.
- • This leadership position requires you to work collaboratively across multiple business lines, including Consumer, Enterprise, and Government sectors, to build the robust platform and infrastructure necessary to support a highly diverse user base. You will own the technical operational cadence, forging strong partnerships with Business Development, Product Management, and your engineering leads to meticulously execute our strategic vision. Your involvement will be deep and comprehensive, encompassing both short-term execution priorities and the long-term strategic direction of our platform architecture. Your ultimate charge is to drive business growth and empower your engineering teams to operate with a high degree of autonomy, enabling swift decision-making within a culture that thrives on solving complex, mission-critical problems.
- • Key responsibilities include defining and executing the technical vision and strategy for a secure, resilient, and scalable platform that can adeptly support both everyday consumer needs and the nation's most critical missions. You will lead, mentor, and inspire a world-class team of engineers, cultivating an environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and unwavering integrity, thereby empowering the team to consistently deliver high-impact solutions.
- • Furthermore, you will serve as a crucial technical partner to our customers and internal stakeholders, adeptly translating complex requirements into tangible, deployed solutions. Your efforts will ensure Cape is recognized not merely as a service provider, but as a trusted ally in advancing security and privacy. You will also be responsible for defining and upholding the most stringent standards for engineering practices, security protocols, and delivery timelines across all business lines, ensuring operational excellence. A significant aspect of your role will involve bridging our core technology with the specific, demanding requirements of diverse environments, ranging from highly regulated government sectors to the frictionless user experience expected in the consumer market.
- • We are seeking a leader who embodies autonomous leadership, demonstrating a proven ability to learn continuously, work independently, and make sound decisions with minimal oversight. The ideal candidate understands the 'Force-Multiplier Effect,' believing that the best leaders empower their teams to achieve the seemingly impossible and are dedicated to growing the next generation of engineering leaders. A pragmatic problem-solving approach, considering tradeoffs and avoiding over-engineering in favor of robust resiliency, is essential. Adaptability to a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives and rapid user iteration is key. Strong diplomatic skills are required to excel at building collaborative relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively translating mission needs into technical realities. An active U.S. Top Secret (TS) security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is a significant advantage.
- • Your technical foundation should stem from a background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a similar quantitative field. You must possess demonstrated success in leading engineering organizations that have built and operated high-concurrency, distributed systems serving millions of users. Deep experience with global cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes) is critical, along with a thorough understanding of maintaining 99.99% availability in a zero-trust environment. A profound understanding of modern cryptography, identity management (OIDC, SAML), and privacy-preserving technologies (GDPR, SOC2) is essential. Experience building comprehensive monitoring and telemetry stacks that ensure system health and performance without compromising user privacy or metadata is required. A proven track record of collaborating as a peer with Product and Design leaders to translate complex technical roadmaps into world-class user journeys is vital. Finally, you must possess the ability to articulate complex technical concepts with authority and clarity to a wide range of audiences, from Board of Directors to junior developers.
