  • • Lead the preparation and execution of all quarterly and annual filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ensuring strict adherence to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all relevant SEC regulations. This includes the meticulous preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and quarterly statements of stockholders' equity, along with comprehensive disclosure notes.
  • • Play a pivotal role in coordinating the comprehensive review and approval process for all quarterly and annual SEC filings. This involves close collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Disclosure Committee, Audit and Compliance Committee, external auditors, and both internal and external legal counsel, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • • Provide crucial support to the Investor Relations team by conducting thorough tie-outs and quality assurance reviews of all externally published materials. This includes the timely preparation and filing of the earnings release 8-K.
  • • Prepare the essential accounting and finance sections for quarterly Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee decks. Present these findings and analyses effectively at Disclosure Committee meetings, providing clear insights and justifications.
  • • Take ownership of maintaining the SEC reporting calendar and proactively project manage the entire SEC reporting process to ensure strict adherence to established timelines. This requires efficient and effective coordination across various internal teams and departments.
  • • Collaborate closely with the accounting policy team to analyze new accounting standards issued by the FASB and any new accounting and reporting guidance from the SEC. Determine the impact of these changes on the company’s disclosures and author position papers as necessary to document conclusions and implementation plans.
  • • Support management in the successful completion of special projects as assigned, acting as a key financial reporting resource for ad-hoc questions, initiatives, and strategic financial endeavors.
  • • Assume responsibility for the coaching, mentoring, and direct management of the SEC reporting team. This includes fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment, potentially across multiple time zones and in a predominantly asynchronous work setting.
  • • Ensure that all SEC reporting processes and disclosures consistently represent industry best practices. Proactively recommend and actively assist in the implementation of disclosure and process improvements, focusing on simplification, standardization, and streamlining for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
  • • Diligently perform financial reporting controls, ensuring clear and comprehensive documentation of all work performed and reviews conducted to maintain robust internal controls.
  • • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the SEC reporting function, seeking opportunities to enhance the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • • Act as a subject matter expert on SEC reporting requirements, providing guidance and support to other finance and accounting teams within the organization.
  • • Contribute to the development and refinement of accounting policies and procedures related to financial reporting.
  • • Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process for SEC filings.
  • • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in financial reporting and corporate governance, particularly within the rapidly evolving fintech and cryptocurrency industries.
  • • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Investor Relations, and Operations, to ensure seamless integration of financial reporting requirements.
  • • Contribute to the overall financial integrity and transparency of the company, playing a critical role in building trust with investors and regulatory bodies.
