📋 Description

• • Lead the preparation and execution of all quarterly and annual filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ensuring strict adherence to U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and all relevant SEC regulations. This includes the meticulous preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and quarterly statements of stockholders' equity, along with comprehensive disclosures.
• • Play a pivotal role in coordinating the review and approval process for all quarterly and annual SEC filings. This involves close collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Disclosure Committee, Audit and Compliance Committee, external auditors, and both internal and external legal counsel, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• • Provide essential support to the Investor Relations team by conducting thorough tie-outs and quality assurance reviews of all externally published materials. This also includes the preparation and filing of the earnings release 8-K, a critical document for public companies.
• • Prepare the accounting and finance sections for quarterly Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee decks. Present these materials effectively at Disclosure Committee meetings, clearly articulating financial performance and reporting matters.
• • Own and maintain the SEC reporting calendar, acting as a project manager for the entire SEC reporting process. Ensure all deadlines are met efficiently and effectively by coordinating seamlessly across various internal teams and departments.
• • Collaborate closely with the accounting policy team to analyze new accounting standards issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and any new accounting and reporting guidance from the SEC. Determine the impact of these changes on the company’s disclosures and prepare detailed position papers as necessary.
• • Act as a key resource for management, supporting them in the completion of special projects and providing expert guidance on ad-hoc questions and initiatives related to financial reporting.
• • Take direct responsibility for the coaching, mentoring, and management of the SEC reporting team. This includes fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment, even when team members are spread across multiple time zones and working in a mostly asynchronous manner.
• • Drive continuous improvement by ensuring SEC reporting processes and disclosures represent industry best practices. Proactively recommend and assist in the implementation of disclosure and process enhancements, focusing on simplification, standardization, and streamlining workflows.
• • Execute and document financial reporting controls meticulously, ensuring clear and comprehensive records of all work performed and reviews conducted, in line with SOX 404 requirements.
• • Contribute to the overall risk management and reporting processes within the Finance department, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies and financial reporting standards across the entire organization.
• • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel, auditors, and other finance teams, to facilitate smooth and accurate financial reporting.
• • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and industry trends in financial reporting, particularly within the cryptocurrency and blockchain space, to ensure Coinbase remains compliant and ahead of the curve.
