- • Localize in-game text, UI, dialogue, subtitles, and narrative content for target languages while maintaining tone, style, and context.
- • Ensure cultural relevance and sensitivity by adapting content appropriately for regional audiences, with deep expertise in Sicilian Mafia history and organized crime jargon from the early 1900s.
- • Review and edit localized content for accuracy, consistency, and quality, supporting glossaries, style guides, and terminology databases.
- • Collaborate with localization QA teams to identify and resolve linguistic bugs in-game and provide feedback on pipelines for efficiency improvements.
- • Work remotely as an independent contractor with full schedule autonomy, contributing to cutting-edge AI and language technology that shapes human-machine communication.
- • Join a global community of linguists and subject matter experts advancing human knowledge through innovative, diverse projects across industries.
🎯 Requirements
- • Native-level fluency in Sicilian (target language)
- • ISO 17100 Certification Criteria: graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies OR graduate in another field + 2 years professional translation OR 5 years full-time professional translation experience
- • 3+ years demonstrable experience localizing in-game video content
- • In-depth understanding of translating gaming content types: UI/menus, mission text, NPC ambient dialogue, locked cutscene subtitle blocks
- • Transcreation experience in gaming sector, specifically translating crime fiction for games
- • In-depth knowledge of Cosa Nostra (Sicilian Mafia) in the 1900s and organized crime jargon, including turn-of-the-century firearms and vehicles
- • Familiarity with game engines and localization pipelines
- • Knowledge of scripting formats (e.g., XML, JSON) is a plus
- • Passion for video games, especially sports, action, or narrative-driven titles
