Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions that power Voya’s mission to secure every individual’s financial future. You will translate disruptive market forces and business objectives into resilient, cost-optimized hosting architectures spanning on-premises data centers, HPC clusters, and cloud-native platforms such as Azure and AWS EC2/S3.
- • Craft and continuously evolve multi-year infrastructure roadmaps that align compute, storage, and networking capabilities with Voya’s strategic goals. Your blueprints will guide tens of millions of dollars in technology investments, ensuring every decision maximizes ROI while meeting stringent security and compliance mandates (SOX, PCI DSS, GDPR, HIPAA, NIST).
- • Architect hybrid cloud environments that seamlessly orchestrate containerized workloads via Kubernetes and Docker. You will define container placement, auto-scaling policies, and service-mesh topologies that deliver millisecond-level latency for customer-facing applications and sub-second recovery times for mission-critical retirement-planning services.
- • Lead cloud-migration initiatives—especially Azure-focused—by designing landing zones, connectivity patterns, and data-movement strategies that minimize downtime and eliminate risk. You will own the cut-over playbook, coordinate cross-functional war rooms, and validate success through automated observability platforms including Dynatrace, ThousandEyes, Datadog, and Splunk.
- • Optimize middleware platforms (routing, caching, relational & NoSQL databases, message queues, and monitoring agents) to achieve 99.99 % availability across global sites. You will tune JVM heaps, connection pools, and cache-hit ratios while embedding FinOps principles to drive down per-transaction costs.
- • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation, integrating CI/CD pipelines that validate every pull request against security baselines and cost models. Your code will be the single source of truth for environments from dev to prod, enabling repeatable, auditable deployments in minutes—not weeks.
- • Model infrastructure spend, refresh cycles, and capacity forecasts that feed directly into Voya’s annual budgeting process. You will present scenario analyses to CFO stakeholders, quantifying the business impact of adopting Graviton processors, spot-instance strategies, or reserved-capacity commitments.
- • Embed zero-trust security controls into every layer—identity, network segmentation, secrets management, and encryption—while partnering with Security, Risk, and Audit teams to ensure continuous compliance validation and rapid remediation of vulnerabilities discovered via automated scanning.
- • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives and business stakeholders, translating complex technical tradeoffs into clear business value. You will facilitate architecture review boards, deliver board-ready slide decks, and negotiate scope versus timeline decisions that balance innovation velocity with regulatory obligations.
- • Mentor a distributed team of infrastructure engineers, SREs, and platform owners. Through brown-bag sessions, design reviews, and pair-programming, you will uplift architectural practices, instill operational excellence, and cultivate a culture where every engineer thinks like an architect.
- • Drive capacity planning and asset lifecycle management across a global footprint, ensuring hardware refresh cycles, license renewals, and cloud commitments are synchronized to eliminate waste and avoid end-of-life surprises.
- • Champion disaster-recovery readiness by designing multi-region failover patterns, conducting quarterly game-day exercises, and automating runbooks that restore customer-facing services within agreed RPO/RTO targets—even during regional outages or cyber events.
- • Collaborate with Network Engineering to evolve SD-WAN and remote-access strategies that support a hybrid workforce, ensuring secure, low-latency connectivity for 15.7 million clients and thousands of remote employees.
- • Stay ahead of emerging technologies—edge computing, confidential computing, AI/ML accelerators—and conduct proof-of-concepts that position Voya as an early adopter where business value is demonstrable.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering and architecture, including hands-on design of hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
- • Deep expertise in Azure and at least one other major cloud (AWS or GCP), with proven success leading large-scale migrations and cost-optimization programs.
- • Demonstrated proficiency with container and orchestration technologies—Kubernetes, Docker, Helm—and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation.
- • Strong understanding of enterprise networking, SD-WAN, load-balancing, and security frameworks (NIST, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOX).
- • Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a track record of presenting to C-suite stakeholders and mentoring technical teams.
🏖️ Benefits
- • 20 days paid time off, nine paid company holidays, and a flexible Diversity Celebration Day—plus 40 hours of paid volunteer time annually.
- • 401(k) savings plan with up to 6 % company match and an employer-paid cash-balance retirement plan contributing 4 % of salary.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance plans designed to keep you and your family well.
- • Hybrid/remote flexibility, allowing you to balance in-office collaboration with work-from-home convenience.
