📋 Description

• • Be the backbone of Wintermute’s trading floor as our Infrastructure Support Engineer, ensuring that the technology powering one of the world’s largest crypto-native algorithmic trading firms never skips a beat. You will own the desktop and end-user environment across a hybrid physical/virtual landscape, directly enabling traders, quants, and developers to focus on alpha generation without distraction.
• • Provide white-glove, desk-side technical support for 200+ Linux workstations, diagnosing and resolving OS, application, peripheral, network, and audio-visual issues before they impact P&L. Your tickets will range from “my Bloomberg terminal lost sound” to “the FPGA card just threw a thermal error,” and you’ll treat every one with the same urgency and precision.
• • Maintain and continuously improve our automated workstation provisioning pipeline, writing and refining Python scripts that image, configure, and patch machines at scale. Your code will reduce manual build time from hours to minutes and become the template for onboarding new trading desks within days, not weeks.
• • Act as the first responder for hardware failures—swapping GPUs, reseating RAM, or driving to the data center at 2 a.m. to replace a failed NIC—then documenting root cause and preventative measures in Confluence so the issue never repeats.
• • Monitor system health and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, and custom dashboards; proactively tune CPU governors, disk schedulers, and network buffers to squeeze every microsecond of latency out of our trading stack.
• • Manage inventory and lifecycle of high-end trading hardware: multi-monitor rigs, 100 GbE NICs, liquid-cooled workstations, and specialized crypto-custody devices. You’ll forecast demand, negotiate with vendors, and ensure zero downtime during rolling upgrades.
• • Collaborate with Network Engineering to troubleshoot VLAN misconfigurations, DNS anomalies, and DHCP scope exhaustion that could isolate a desk during market open. Your packet-capture skills will save the day when milliseconds matter.
• • Champion a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing: write runbooks, record Loom videos, and host brown-bag sessions so every team member can level up. Your onboarding wiki will become the gold standard for new hires.
• • Participate in weekend and evening shifts on a rotating roster, ensuring 24/7 coverage for our global markets. You’ll coordinate with Singapore and New York desks, handing off critical issues seamlessly across time zones.
• • Contribute to cross-team projects such as migrating legacy NFS mounts to NVMe-over-Fabrics, rolling out WireGuard VPN for remote quants, or integrating YubiKey-based PAM for privileged access. Your fingerprints will be on every major infrastructure evolution.
• • Engage directly with traders during high-stress incidents, translating technical jargon into plain English while keeping emotions in check. Your calm demeanor under fire will earn trust and make you the go-to person when things go sideways.
