  • • Review inpatient medical records to accurately identify and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10 PCS procedure codes for pediatric patients.
  • • Abstract diagnostic and procedural codes, along with other relevant clinical data, into the organization’s network system in strict compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • • Monitor and manage assigned work queues to ensure timely and complete coding of all inpatient accounts.
  • • Identify and resolve encounters with missing or incomplete documentation, initiating necessary follow-ups to obtain required clinical information.
  • • Code and abstract any inpatient accounts that were overlooked or deferred to maintain accuracy and completeness of medical record data.
  • • Collaborate with Coding Supervisor to provide detailed analysis and insights on complex or problematic coding cases, supporting quality assurance efforts.
  • • Maintain strict adherence to coding standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational guidelines to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • • Contribute to the accuracy of billing, reporting, and clinical outcomes through precise and timely coding of inpatient services.
  • • Participate in team efforts to uphold the organization’s mission of improving children’s health through high-quality, accurate medical documentation.
  • • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with evolving coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices.
  • • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs of the Coding department and broader clinical documentation improvement initiatives.
  • • Work within a structured schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, as a remote employee with a designated primary location address for administrative purposes.
  • • Operate within the Coding job family, contributing to a team-oriented environment focused on excellence, accuracy, and patient-centered care.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 PCS coding standards
  • • Experience abstracting clinical data from inpatient medical records
  • • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with high accuracy
  • • Knowledge of healthcare documentation requirements and coding compliance
  • • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software
