MagicSchool Inc., a rapidly growing leader in generative AI for teachers, is seeking a dynamic Instructional Designer & LMS Administrator to architect and deliver exceptional professional learning experiences.
- • In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the learning journey for educators worldwide, ensuring they can effectively leverage MagicSchool's innovative platform. This position offers a unique blend of creative instructional design and meticulous technical administration, focusing on creating cohesive, engaging, and scalable learning programs across both synchronous and asynchronous formats.
- • As the architect of our learning journeys and the primary administrator of our customer education platform, currently powered by Skilljar, you will collaborate closely with key departments including Professional Services, Customer Success, Marketing, and Product. Your efforts will directly contribute to driving educator activation, fostering deep adoption of our AI tools, and ensuring their long-term success and satisfaction.
- • This role is strategically balanced, with approximately 60% of your time dedicated to instructional design and learning architecture, and 40% focused on LMS administration and learning operations. This ensures a comprehensive approach to our learning ecosystem.
- • **Core Responsibility Area 1: Instructional Design & Learning Architecture**
- • You will be responsible for the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of MagicSchool’s professional learning programs. This includes ensuring all learning experiences are grounded in sound pedagogical principles, are highly engaging for adult learners, and are strategically aligned with critical milestones in the educator's journey with our platform.
- • Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining a robust, scalable learning architecture that seamlessly supports educators through onboarding, activation, adoption phases, certification processes, and ongoing product support.
- • You will create interactive, learner-centered courses that are SCORM-compliant, effectively translating complex product functionalities and pedagogical concepts into practical, actionable strategies for the classroom.
- • The role demands the design of learning experiences across various modalities, with a primary focus on asynchronous courses, while ensuring a consistent and cohesive learning path that aligns with any synchronous sessions or blended learning programs.
- • You will establish and uphold rigorous instructional design standards, including the development and maintenance of style guides, reusable templates, clear learning objectives, effective assessment strategies, and streamlined production workflows.
- • A crucial aspect of this role involves partnering effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) across the organization to develop content that is not only accurate and high-quality but also maintains instructional integrity and a consistent brand voice.
- • Continuous improvement is paramount; you will actively gather and analyze learner feedback, engagement metrics, and completion data to iteratively refine and enhance the effectiveness of our learning experiences.
- • **Core Responsibility Area 2: LMS Administration & Learning Operations**
- • You will serve as the primary owner and administrator for our customer education platform, Skilljar. This includes ensuring the platform is configured to optimally support our learning strategy and is capable of scaling efficiently to meet the demands of our growing user base.
- • Responsibilities encompass the day-to-day administration of Skilljar, including the meticulous setup of courses, management of course catalogs, configuration of certification pathways, user management, permission settings, and the generation of insightful reports.
- • You will be tasked with configuring, maintaining, and optimizing LMS workflows to enhance scalability, ensure consistency across learning experiences, and improve overall user ease of use. This also includes managing and maintaining critical LMS integrations, such as those with Salesforce, Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions, and our data warehouse, in close collaboration with internal technical teams.
- • A key technical responsibility is the management of SCORM deployment and ongoing maintenance, ensuring reliable content tracking and optimal performance at scale.
- • You will act as the go-to internal subject matter expert for Skilljar, possessing a deep understanding of its capabilities, limitations, and best practices, and providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders as needed.
- • **Cross-Functional Collaboration**
- • You will foster strong partnerships with Professional Services, Customer Success, Marketing, and Product teams to ensure learning programs are tightly aligned with customer lifecycle stages, product adoption goals, and broader go-to-market initiatives.
- • Your role will involve translating diverse inputs—such as customer feedback, product updates, and adoption insights—into effective, scalable learning solutions.
- • You will also support internal enablement efforts by providing relevant learning content, sharing your LMS expertise, and delivering insightful reports on learning engagement and effectiveness.
