  • • As an Insurance Verification Specialist at Equip Health Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring patients with eating disorders can access timely, evidence-based treatment by verifying insurance benefits and eligibility during admissions and throughout treatment—directly supporting the company’s mission to expand access to care that works.
  • • You will serve as a key liaison between insurance providers and internal teams including Admissions, Utilization Management, Finance, and RCM, ensuring accurate communication of treatment details and seamless coordination to prevent delays in care due to insurance barriers.
  • • Day to day, you will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with insurance companies and payors to verify patient benefits, eligibility, and coverage details for eating disorder treatment services.
  • • You will enter, update, and maintain accurate patient demographics, guarantor information, and insurance details in Equip’s EMR and billing systems, ensuring data integrity for claims processing and financial operations.
  • • You will respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from insurance representatives and internal stakeholders, resolving discrepancies and providing clarification on coverage, authorizations, and patient responsibility.
  • • You will work closely with Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), finance, accounting, admissions, and utilization management teams to align verification outcomes with billing, authorization, and care delivery workflows.
  • • You will uphold strict confidentiality standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations and Equip’s data protection policies when handling sensitive patient and business information.
  • • You will adapt to evolving processes in a fast-paced, remote-first startup environment, demonstrating initiative and flexibility when handling ambiguous situations or changing insurance requirements.

  • • You will strengthen your ability to navigate complex healthcare systems, improve cross-functional collaboration, and contribute directly to patient access outcomes—skills that are highly transferable and valuable in healthcare operations, revenue cycle, and patient advocacy roles.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3+ years of healthcare experience in billing, insurance verification, or utilization management
  • • Proficiency with EMR and billing software systems
  • • Strong knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations and ability to maintain confidential patient information
