- • You will own the end-to-end design, implementation and continuous optimisation of Remote’s global personal income tax compliance and advisory framework, ensuring every team member—regardless of where they live—receives accurate, timely and fully compliant tax support.
- • Serve as the primary subject-matter expert on personal income tax matters for 100+ jurisdictions; monitor legislative changes daily, translate complex regulations into plain-language guidance, and proactively update internal playbooks so that payroll, mobility and finance teams can act with confidence.
- • Partner with the Total Rewards, People Operations and Legal teams to create scalable processes that handle multi-country payroll withholding, shadow payroll, tax equalisation, hypothetical tax calculations and year-end reporting for a workforce that has grown 3× year-over-year.
- • Build and maintain a centralised knowledge base of country-specific tax rules, treaty benefits, social-security agreements and stock-option implications; turn this repository into an internal “tax wiki” that reduces resolution time for employee queries from days to minutes.
- • Lead quarterly deep-dives with senior leadership to model the cost, risk and employee-experience impact of proposed expansions into new markets, delivering scenario analyses that influence go/no-go decisions on entity set-up versus employer-of-record models.
- • Design and deliver interactive training sessions for People Business Partners, payroll vendors and newly acquired subsidiaries, ensuring consistent application of Remote’s tax philosophy across every geography and every employment type (full-time, contractor, visa-sponsored, equity-eligible).
- • Own the relationship with Big-4 and boutique tax advisory firms, negotiating statements of work, managing budgets and holding partners accountable to SLAs that keep Remote compliant while controlling external spend.
- • Champion a culture of fairness and transparency by auditing existing tax equalisation policies, identifying gender or geo-based disparities, and recommending policy changes that align with Remote’s “same work, same pay” ethos.
- • Build automated dashboards in Workday, Netsuite and Google Data Studio that surface real-time tax exposure, filing deadlines and employee FAQs, cutting manual reporting effort by 60 % and freeing your team for higher-value advisory work.
- • Act as the escalation point for high-stakes employee cases—e.g., cross-border remote work during extended travel, dual-residency conflicts, RSU liquidation timing—delivering white-glove support that protects both the individual and the company.
- • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to embed tax logic directly into Remote’s proprietary onboarding and payroll platforms, ensuring new hires receive accurate net-pay previews before day one and eliminating “surprise” tax bills.
- • Drive continuous improvement through post-mortems on every tax audit, employee complaint or vendor error, translating lessons learned into updated SOPs and training modules that raise the bar for accuracy and empathy.
- • Represent Remote externally by speaking at global mobility conferences, contributing to white-papers on distributed-work taxation and maintaining an active social-media presence that positions Remote as the thought leader in compliant remote-first employment.
- • Mentor junior tax analysts, providing structured feedback, stretch assignments and visibility to senior leadership so that Remote’s tax bench strength grows in lockstep with business expansion.
