📋 Description

• Develop realistic, deal-relevant prompts for frontier AI models that simulate tasks typically assigned to investment banking analysts, ensuring outputs are stress-tested against bulge-bracket standards.
• Systematically compare AI-generated financial reasoning with human judgment from trained bankers across valuation, financial modelling, and due diligence processes.
• Design structured frameworks that translate how investment bankers navigate ambiguity in financial statements, structure complex transactions, and pressure-test assumptions into measurable AI challenges.
• Construct and validate real-world financial models—including DCFs, comparable company analyses, LBOs, and live deal cases—to serve as benchmarks for evaluating the accuracy and robustness of frontier AI systems.
• Collaborate with ex-bulge-bracket and elite-boutique investment professionals to identify gaps between current AI capabilities and institutional finance expectations.
• Translate practical IB workflows—from pitch deck preparation and diligence to modelling and execution—into actionable AI evaluation protocols.
• Maintain rigorous attention to detail in documenting AI output deviations, inconsistencies, and strengths relative to industry-standard banking practices.
• Contribute to building a proprietary knowledge base of AI performance metrics in corporate finance contexts, grounded in real deal data and banker expertise.
• Work flexibly on a part-time basis with a minimum commitment of 30+ hours per week, adapting schedule to accommodate ongoing deal activity and research cycles.
• Engage with foundational AI research teams to refine model inputs, outputs, and reasoning pathways based on direct feedback from active investment banking practitioners.
• Ensure all AI evaluation frameworks are grounded in actual market conditions, transaction structures, and financial reporting norms observed in UK and EU markets.
• Maintain confidentiality and integrity of proprietary deal data and internal benchmarks used in AI testing and validation.
• Participate in ongoing refinement of AI performance standards by identifying emerging patterns in model behavior across different financial scenarios and sectors.
• Serve as a bridge between institutional finance practice and AI research, ensuring models are evaluated using authentic, high-stakes financial contexts rather than synthetic or theoretical proxies.
• Document and communicate findings clearly to both technical AI teams and finance professionals, enabling cross-functional alignment on AI capabilities and limitations.
• Contribute to the development of training materials and evaluation rubrics that can be used to onboard future associates into AI-augmented IB workflows.
• Stay current with evolving AI capabilities in financial reasoning and adapt evaluation methodologies accordingly.
• Act as an early adopter and thought leader in applying frontier AI to investment banking, helping shape the future of finance workflows in the UK and EU.

🎯 Requirements

• 3–4+ years of investment banking or corporate finance experience at a top international bank (bulge bracket, elite boutique, or top-tier middle-market)
• Associate level with sector-agnostic experience
• Strong modelling and valuation skills including DCF, LBO, comps, and precedents with hands-on experience on live deals
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail
• Genuine intellectual curiosity about the application of AI in finance
