📋 Description

• The Backend Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain critical backend microservices for a licensed Payment Service Provider (PSP) platform supporting secure, scalable, and reliable financial transactions in a highly regulated environment.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include developing Java and Spring Boot microservices, managing PostgreSQL databases, implementing automated testing with JUnit, participating in GitHub workflows, utilizing Docker and CI/CD pipelines, and leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
• The role is with Scale Army, supporting a U.S.-based client building enterprise-grade payment infrastructure; candidates must be available to work during U.S. business hours (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST) and are based in LATAM, Africa, or Eastern Europe.
• The engineer will gain deep experience in fintech backend systems, microservices architecture, database optimization, testing automation, and production-grade software delivery while contributing to a rigorous engineering culture focused on code quality, reliability, and scalability.

🎯 Requirements

• 2–4+ years of production-level experience developing backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Experience working with PostgreSQL databases and managing database migrations
• Experience implementing automated testing practices including unit testing and integration testing
• Experience working within GitHub-based development workflows including branches, pull requests, code reviews, and CI processes
• Experience using Docker for local development environments
• Experience building payment gateways, payment systems, fintech platforms, or related financial technology products is highly preferred
