Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Join DoseSpot—a PE-backed, hyper-growth start-up at the epicenter of healthcare and software innovation—as a Java Developer and help us deliver mission-critical electronic prescribing and insurance-verification solutions that millions of patients and providers rely on every day. You will be embedded in a cross-functional squad that owns the full SDLC of high-throughput, HIPAA-compliant microservices powering DoseSpot and pVerify.
  • • Architect, build, and ship resilient Java-based services using Java 17/21, Spring Boot 3, WebFlux, and Spring Cloud; leverage reactive programming to handle tens of thousands of concurrent prescription-verification requests with sub-second latency.
  • • Design RESTful and event-driven APIs that integrate with Epic, Cerner, and other EHR systems; ensure backward compatibility and version governance while continuously deploying to AWS ECS and Lambda via blue-green pipelines.
  • • Optimize data persistence across polyglot stores—MySQL for transactional consistency, Redis for low-latency caching, and S3 for immutable document storage—while tuning ORM mappings, indexing strategies, and query plans to keep p99 response times under 200 ms.
  • • Champion clean-code principles: write self-documenting Java, enforce SOLID design, and achieve >80 % unit-test coverage with JUnit 5, Mockito, and Testcontainers; conduct rigorous peer reviews and pair-programming sessions to raise collective code quality.
  • • Embed security and compliance by design—implement OAuth2/JWT flows, encrypt PHI at rest and in transit, and maintain SOC 2 and HIPAA audit trails using Spring Security and AWS KMS; participate in quarterly penetration-test remediations.
  • • Instrument services with Micrometer, Prometheus, and Grafana dashboards; set proactive SLOs/SLIs, define error budgets, and lead incident post-mortems to ensure 99.9 % uptime for production systems that route life-saving prescriptions.
  • • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and QA engineers in two-week Scrum sprints; translate complex clinical workflows into user stories, estimate effort using story points, and demo completed features to clinicians for rapid feedback loops.
  • • Contribute to our internal developer platform: build reusable starter templates, Maven archetypes, and GitHub Actions workflows that reduce new-service spin-up time from days to minutes; mentor junior developers through brown-bag sessions and code clinics.
  • • Experiment with Generative AI coding assistants to accelerate boilerplate generation, automate test-case creation, and surface performance regressions; share findings in weekly tech talks to keep the entire engineering org on the cutting edge.
  • • Own reliability and scalability roadmaps—forecast traffic growth, model capacity plans, and execute horizontal scaling experiments in AWS to ensure our platform gracefully handles 10Ă— load spikes during open-enrollment periods.
  • • Exhibit a growth mindset: dedicate 10 % of your time to hack-days and guild meetings, pursue AWS or OCP certifications on the company dime, and continuously refine agile processes to shorten lead time from commit to production.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of professional Java development with deep expertise in Java 8/17/21 features (Streams, Lambdas, Optional, new memory model)
  • • Proven delivery of Spring Boot microservices in AWS (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3) with production-grade observability and security
  • • Hands-on experience with relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis) data stores, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning
  • • Demonstrated ability to write clean, testable code (JUnit 5, Mockito) and participate in rigorous peer code reviews
  • • Nice-to-have: React front-end experience, prior healthcare/HL7/FHIR knowledge, and familiarity with HIPAA or SOC 2 compliance

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours and a one-time $1,000 workspace stipend to craft your ideal home office
  • • Generous PTO policy plus 13 paid holidays, paid sick leave, and paid parental leave to keep you recharged and balanced
  • • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and dependents, plus company-funded FSA/HSA and 401(k) match
  • • Annual all-company offsite in a destination city—past retreats have included Boston Harbor cruises and Cape Cod team-building weekends
