• • Join a brand-new venture inside ION Group that is re-imagining how the world’s largest banks, asset managers, and central banks interact with capital markets. You will be part of a green-field squad chartered to build a next-generation trading and risk platform that leverages real-time data, cloud-native architecture, and ultra-low-latency micro-services to give our customers an unfair advantage.
• • Own the end-to-end life-cycle of critical Java services—from ideation and white-boarding with quant researchers and product managers, through writing clean, test-driven code, to deploying blue-green releases on AWS with fully automated CI/CD. You will design domain models for complex financial instruments, implement event-driven workflows that process millions of ticks per second, and craft APIs that are consumed by both web and mobile trading front-ends.
• • Collaborate daily with an international, cross-functional team that blends battle-tested architects, PhD-level data scientists, UX designers, and DevSecOps engineers. We practice true Scrum with two-week sprints, story mapping, and regular retros, but we also run Kanban swarms when production incidents demand immediate attention. Expect pair-programming, mob-reviews, and lightning talks where you demo the latest JVM features or a proof-of-concept in Rust or Kotlin.
• • Champion quality and performance. You will write JUnit 5, TestNG, and property-based tests; spin up ephemeral Docker environments for contract testing; and use PIT mutation testing to ensure our coverage is meaningful. Latency is money in fintech—so you will profile with Java Flight Recorder, tune GC algorithms, and squeeze every micro-second out of the hot path.
• • Influence the technical roadmap. We are early enough that your voice matters: should we adopt Project Loom for virtual threads? Replace our custom DI container with Guice or Spring Boot 3? Move from imperative to functional reactive with RxJava or Reactor? You will prototype, benchmark, and present findings to senior leadership.
• • Mentor and be mentored. Our Pisa and Turin labs host hack-days, brown-bags, and open-source Fridays. You will coach graduates on clean code and SOLID principles while learning about exotic derivatives pricing from domain experts who used to run trading desks in London and New York.
• • Make a tangible impact on global finance. The features you ship will settle billions of euros in daily transactions, help pension funds hedge inflation risk, and allow regulators to monitor systemic exposure in real time. Your code literally moves markets.
