We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant for a one-year contract position to play a pivotal role in our Finance team.

• As a Junior Accountant, you will be instrumental in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various accounting functions, working closely with senior members of the finance department.
• Your primary responsibilities will include supporting the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) processes. This involves assisting with the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly and in compliance with company policies.
• You will contribute significantly to our month-end close activities. This includes preparing and posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports. Your diligence in these tasks will be crucial for the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.
• The role also encompasses handling general accounting responsibilities. This will involve preparing and posting journal entries for various transactions, ensuring that all financial data is accurately captured and classified.
• A key part of your role will be performing account reconciliations. You will be responsible for reconciling balance sheet accounts, such as bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and prepaid expenses, to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
• You will assist in the preparation of audit schedules and provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring that all necessary documentation is organized and readily available.
• This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving accounting issues. You will work collaboratively with other departments to gather information and ensure smooth financial operations.
• You will also be involved in maintaining and improving internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• The Junior Accountant will support the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring its accuracy and completeness.
• You will assist in the preparation of variance analysis and provide explanations for significant fluctuations in financial results.

🎯 Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with formulas and data manipulation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) is considered an asset.
• Experience with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes is a plus.
