- • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including SaaS terms, healthcare provider contracts, data processing agreements, and technology partnerships.
- • Provide clear, practical legal advice that balances organisational risk with operational realities across technology, privacy, health law, employment/HR, leasing, and commercial matters.
- • Support product development and regulatory strategy involving AI, large language models (LLMs), and generative AI, with training and support provided.
- • Partner with engineering and product teams to understand technical concepts and translate them into legal and governance implications.
- • Assist with global expansion by navigating jurisdiction-specific legal, compliance, and health regulatory requirements in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe.
- • Lead or contribute to Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), risk assessments, and regulatory submissions.
- • Support certification efforts including ISO 27001, SOC2, and Cyber Essentials+, and respond to due diligence and security reviews.
- • Draft and maintain internal policies, contribute to governance processes, and support internal legal training initiatives.
- • Support capital raising and financing activities by preparing and reviewing term sheets, subscription agreements, managing data rooms, coordinating legal workstreams for equity and debt raises, and liaising with investors and external counsel.
- • Represent Heidi at conferences, panels, and external events requiring legal, regulatory, or governance expertise.
- • Manage external legal counsel as required, ensuring alignment with company priorities and cost efficiency.
- • Work closely with the Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs and senior lawyers across product, engineering, operations, sales, and security teams.
- • Stay current on evolving legal and regulatory landscapes in digital health and AI, adapting advice to support rapid growth across 116 countries.
- • Communicate complex legal concepts in clear, concise, and business-friendly language to non-legal stakeholders.
- • Maintain flexibility to context-switch efficiently between diverse legal domains including commercial contracting, privacy, employment, financing, and health regulation.
- • Demonstrate proactive judgment to drive matters forward without close supervision and push back on misaligned priorities.
- • Contribute to a culture of trust, safety, and reliability by ensuring all legal frameworks support clinical and patient outcomes.
- • Engage with global stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions and languages, leveraging familiarity with AU, UK/EU, US, and Canadian legal systems where applicable.
🎯 Requirements
- • Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Australia, Canada, or the United States with 1–4 years’ post-qualification experience.
- • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with ability to deliver legally sound and practical advice.
- • Technically curious with willingness to learn and apply concepts related to AI, LLMs, and cloud-based architectures.
- • Experience or familiarity with multiple jurisdictions (AU, UK/EU, US, Canada) is highly regarded.
- • Exceptional communicator capable of translating complexity into clear, business-friendly guidance.
- • Self-motivated and proactive with strong judgment to drive matters independently.
