- • ALX Africa is seeking a Junior Multimedia Designer to support the Creative Production team in the Learning Department, working remotely. This role is pivotal in transforming complex educational concepts into visually compelling, engaging learning materials that empower African youth with in-demand tech skills. As part of a mission-driven non-profit aiming to empower 2 million Africans by 2030, your designs will directly contribute to bridging the digital divide and fostering a generation of innovative leaders across the continent.
- • You will design and assemble illustrations for static and animated use, create data visualizations and infographics for learning content, and develop motion graphics including kinetic typography and video branding templates. Your work will involve storyboarding and animating 2D vector graphics, editing video and audio into cohesive learning videos, and re-branding existing assets into new styles while strictly adhering to ALX Africa’s brand guidelines to ensure visual consistency across all materials.
- • The Creative Production team operates within ALX Africa’s Learning Department, a dynamic, mission-focused unit dedicated to producing high-impact educational content for tech upskilling programmes. You’ll collaborate with instructional designers, content creators, and fellow designers in a fully remote environment, contributing to a culture of innovation, feedback, and continuous improvement across pan-African learning initiatives.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in multimedia storytelling, gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools like Adobe CC Suite and emerging platforms like Rive, and develop your ability to translate complex data and concepts into accessible, engaging visual narratives. You’ll also grow your project management, feedback integration, and cross-functional collaboration skills — preparing you for mid-level creative roles in EdTech, digital agencies, or in-house creative studios.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree or 3-year diploma in multimedia design, graphic design, animation, motion design, or a closely related field.
- • 1–2 years of professional experience in an agency or in-house creative studio environment.
- • A strong, diverse portfolio demonstrating proficiency across digital design, animation, and video production.
- • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, including Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
- • Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to rapidly upskill in interactive design and animation software such as Rive.
- • (Nice-to-have) Experience working in the EdTech industry.
- • (Nice-to-have) Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- • (Nice-to-have) Familiarity with AI-generated tools and AI-augmented creative workflows.
- • (Nice-to-have) Experience creating content tailored for pan-African audiences.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote position with flexible work hours aligned to GMT to GMT+4 time zones, enabling work-life balance while collaborating across Africa and beyond.
- • Opportunity to contribute to a meaningful mission: empowering 2 million Africans by 2030 with sustainable tech careers through world-class, accessible education.
- • Access to a vibrant, pan-African network of expert instructors, industry partners, and fellow professionals committed to lifelong learning and career growth.
- • Encouragement and support to pursue professional certifications and continuous skill development at company expense.
- • A culture that values courage, humility, adventure, initiative, and resilience — fostering personal and professional growth through challenging, impactful work.
