- • Agile Defense is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Language-Enabled (German) Open Source Research Monitor to join our dynamic team supporting a critical federal law enforcement client. This role is integral to the success of a vital Open Source Intelligence Program, dedicated to proactively identifying and mitigating threats against specific individuals, key locations, and significant events. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing the safety and security of people and places both domestically and internationally.
- • As a German language-enabled specialist, you will be at the forefront of monitoring publicly available online information. This involves leveraging your advanced German language proficiency, coupled with a deep understanding of Boolean logic and sophisticated search methodologies, to scour a wide array of digital platforms. Your research will encompass social media networks, news outlets, online forums, blogs, and other open-source channels, with a particular focus on identifying potential threats and relevant intelligence.
- • The information you uncover will be crucial for security and law enforcement personnel worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in enabling these professionals to take informed actions, thereby increasing the safety and security of individuals under protection, sensitive locations, and high-profile events. This position demands a keen eye for detail, an analytical mindset, and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable intelligence.
- • Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive open-source monitoring and research in both German and English. You will be expected to provide timely and accurate support to overseas personnel, domestic investigative offices, protection details, and other external consumers of intelligence. This requires not only linguistic fluency but also a nuanced understanding of cultural and ethnic contexts to ensure the accurate interpretation of information.
- • A core function of this role is to quickly, clearly, and concisely communicate potential threats and other pertinent information. This necessitates exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to convey critical findings effectively to diverse audiences, including those with varying levels of technical and intelligence expertise.
- • You will be responsible for providing expert German translation and linguistic analysis, ensuring that the nuances and implications of German-language content are fully understood. This goes beyond simple word-for-word translation; it involves interpreting cultural idioms, slang, and context to provide a comprehensive understanding.
- • The role requires the adept utilization of specialized tools and advanced search techniques to identify potential threats. You will be trained on and expected to master proprietary and commercial software designed for open-source intelligence gathering and analysis.
- • A critical aspect of your work will involve meticulously reviewing incoming open-source information to assess its accuracy, credibility, validity, and relevance. You will develop a strong sense of source evaluation, distinguishing reliable information from misinformation or disinformation.
- • Based on your findings, you will prepare preliminary referrals to other law enforcement, protection, or intelligence partners. This requires an understanding of inter-agency protocols and the ability to articulate the justification for escalation or information sharing.
- • You will provide technical advice and guidance in the planning and execution of open-source collection operations, contributing to the strategic development of intelligence gathering efforts.
- • A significant part of the role involves using ad-hoc program guidance to create and refine Boolean or other query-language algorithms. These algorithms are essential for optimizing searches within commercial and unclassified tools, ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness in threat detection.
- • There will be opportunities to support large-scale, multi-national events, both domestically and abroad, depending on program needs and your interest. This offers valuable experience in high-stakes operational environments.
- • You will also assist training teams in the development of training modules, sharing your expertise to help onboard and develop future open-source intelligence professionals.
- • A crucial element of this role is the willingness and ability to support open-source monitoring efforts outside of German-speaking regions as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a broad understanding of global information landscapes.
- • This position operates on a shift work schedule of 6:00 AM to 6:15 PM, with a 4-days-on, 4-days-off rotation. This schedule ensures continuous coverage for critical monitoring operations.
- • The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented individual with a passion for intelligence work and a strong commitment to national security. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and are eager to contribute to a mission-critical program.
- • At Agile Defense, we believe in fostering an environment of adaptive innovation. We embrace new challenges with an unmovable spirit and the courage to build for what comes next. Our vision is to bring adaptive innovation to support our nation's most important missions through the seamless integration of advanced technologies, elite minds, and unparalleled agility—leveraging a foundation of speed, flexibility, and ingenuity to strengthen and protect our nation’s vital interests.
