- • Lead the design, development, and delivery of production-grade AI systems that automate core insurance workflows including quotations, policy issuance, endorsements, claims, and customer operations.
- • Architect AI orchestration layers that integrate LLMs, backend services, and business workflows to enable end-to-end automation across digital insurance platforms.
- • Own end-to-end AI system design including inference pipelines, request routing, caching strategies, and fallback mechanisms to ensure reliability and low latency in production.
- • Drive engineering decisions around scalability, cost efficiency, performance, and reliability of AI services serving millions of users across Southeast Asia.
- • Implement and maintain observability systems for AI services, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting to enable rapid detection and resolution of production issues.
- • Review and guide backend AI implementations across engineering teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards and production best practices.
- • Collaborate with product, backend, DevOps, and operations teams to ship integrated AI features that directly impact business outcomes and user experience.
- • Debug complex, distributed production issues in AI systems and lead root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve system resilience.
- • Define and enforce engineering standards, coding practices, and system design principles for AI development across the organization.
- • Mentor engineers, elevate technical execution quality, and foster a culture of ownership, reliability, and high-performance engineering.
- • Ensure AI capabilities are deeply embedded into core insurance workflows, enabling seamless automation without compromising system stability or user trust.
- • Maintain a hands-on technical role by writing and reviewing production code while leading technical strategy and system architecture decisions.
- • Operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with a bias toward execution, real-world impact, and practical problem-solving over theoretical perfection.
- • Work within a hybrid model based in Malaysia, collaborating with a global engineering organization to deliver AI-powered insurance products used across multiple countries.
- • Contribute to a high-ownership culture where engineers are accountable for the full lifecycle of AI systems—from design to deployment to incident response.
- • Apply modern engineering practices including containerization with Docker, orchestration with Kubernetes, and integration with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models).
- • Utilize Python and Node.js as primary development languages, alongside SQL and NoSQL databases to support scalable AI data pipelines and workflow systems.
- • Build systems that support rapid iteration while maintaining high reliability, low latency, and operational stability under production load.
- • Translate model capabilities into robust, scalable, and maintainable backend systems that serve as the foundation for AI-driven insurance automation.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong backend or AI engineering experience in production environments
- • Experience building or scaling AI systems including LLMs, embeddings, recommendation systems, or automation workflows
- • Strong system design skills with proven experience in distributed systems
- • Experience with production inference pipelines and AI orchestration
- • Proven ability to lead technical execution in cross-functional teams
- • Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive projects end-to-end
