📋 Description

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of production-grade AI systems that automate insurance workflows including quotations, policy issuance, endorsements, claims, and customer operations.
• Architect AI orchestration layers that integrate LLMs, backend services, and business workflows to enable reliable, scalable automation across global products.
• Own end-to-end AI system design, including inference pipelines, request routing, caching strategies, and fallback mechanisms to ensure high availability and low latency.
• Drive engineering decisions focused on optimizing latency, reliability, cost-efficiency, and scalability of AI services in production environments.
• Implement and maintain comprehensive observability systems including logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting for distributed AI systems.
• Review and guide backend AI implementations across engineering teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards and production best practices.
• Collaborate closely with product, backend, DevOps, and operations teams to ship end-to-end AI features that directly impact real users and business outcomes.
• Debug complex production issues across distributed AI systems and lead root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve system resilience.
• Define and enforce engineering standards, coding practices, and system design principles for AI system development across the organization.
• Mentor engineers, elevate technical execution quality, and foster a culture of ownership, reliability, and technical excellence within the engineering team.
• Ensure AI capabilities are deeply integrated into global insurance workflows, enabling seamless automation at scale across Southeast Asia and beyond.
• Maintain hands-on involvement in writing and reviewing production code while leading technical strategy and system architecture decisions.
• Operate in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment with teams across multiple countries, delivering high-impact AI systems with minimal latency and maximum reliability.
• Balance technical depth with leadership responsibility, guiding teams without micromanaging while holding them accountable for production outcomes.
• Prioritize practical execution and real-world impact over theoretical architecture, ensuring systems are maintainable, observable, and production-ready.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong backend or AI engineering experience in production environments
• Experience building or scaling AI systems (LLMs, embeddings, recommendation systems, or automation workflows)
• Strong system design skills with experience in distributed systems
• Experience with production inference pipelines and AI orchestration
• Strong debugging ability in high-scale, latency-sensitive environments
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and incident response
