- • Lead Backend Software Engineer responsible for designing, building, and scaling backend systems that power Beacon AI’s flight safety platform, directly contributing to safer and more efficient aviation through mission-critical AI systems.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting and maintaining backend services and distributed systems, designing secure and scalable APIs for internal and external integrations, building and optimizing data pipelines for time-series and multimedia data, owning system reliability and performance in production, leading technical design discussions, contributing to code reviews, troubleshooting complex backend and cloud infrastructure issues, and taking ownership of features from concept through delivery in close collaboration with product and cross-functional teams.
- • Beacon AI is a fast-moving team of aviators, engineers, and operators building an AI platform to enhance flight safety, efficiency, and capability, backed by top investors with multiple Department of Defense contracts and major airline partnerships, operating with small, focused teams that own their work, ship quickly, and learn fast without silos or heavy processes.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in backend architecture, distributed systems, and real-time data processing while gaining leadership experience in technical decision-making, system ownership, and cross-functional collaboration, with opportunities to work on cutting-edge AI applications in aviation and contribute to systems that have real-world impact on flight safety and operational efficiency.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing backend services, APIs, and distributed systems in production environments
- • Fluency in modern backend languages such as Python and JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js)
- • Proven experience building, scaling, and operating backend infrastructure
- • Strong ownership mindset with experience driving end-to-end systems and features from design through deployment
- • Ability to operate effectively in evolving environments while maintaining high standards for quality and reliability
- • Experience building or working with data pipelines and backend systems handling large-scale or real-time data
