📋 Description

• As a Senior Software Engineer (Java) at Lazer Technologies Inc., you will play a critical role in building and maintaining high-performance backend integration services that connect external systems with major commerce platforms like Shopify, directly enabling clients to scale their digital operations and achieve significant revenue growth.
• Your work will focus on the service and integration layers of complex client projects, where you will design, develop, and optimize scalable APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous processing systems to ensure reliable, high-volume transaction handling across global commerce ecosystems.
• Lazer Technologies is a remote-first, elite digital product studio with 180+ senior engineers and designers from top-tier companies like Apple, Google, and Coinbase, trusted by industry leaders including Shopify, Coinbase, Hinge, and Alchemy to build products from $0 to $200M in revenue through deep technical and product expertise.
• You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones, including architects, engineers, and project managers, while engaging directly with clients to translate business needs into robust technical solutions that drive real-world impact.
• In this role, you will deepen your mastery of enterprise-grade Java backend development, gain hands-on experience with Shopify’s GraphQL and REST APIs at scale, and strengthen your skills in event-driven architecture, containerization, and CI/CD practices — positioning you as a leader in modern integration engineering.
• You will contribute to a culture of technical excellence through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement, working alongside senior peers who prioritize learning, ownership, and shipping high-impact solutions with minimal process overhead.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience with a proven track record in building and managing backend systems and integration services
• Proficiency working with APIs, including GraphQL (specifically Shopify’s primary API) and REST, along with experience implementing webhooks, asynchronous processing, and scheduled job workflows
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, system design) and hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker containerization, and both relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases
• Availability to work within Eastern Time (ET) hours to ensure effective collaboration with clients and teams across North America
