📋 Description

• As a Staff Software Engineer on Workato's Engine team, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining the core systems that power recipe execution, including DSL, event processing, webhook handling, and job execution, directly enabling businesses to streamline operations through intelligent automation.
• Your day-to-day responsibilities will include building and extending complex heterogeneous applications in Ruby and GoLang, improving the execution engine for third-party code, writing efficient and testable code, integrating with data storage solutions like Postgres, S3, DynamoDB, Kafka, and ClickHouse, participating in full development lifecycle activities, conducting code reviews, providing technical leadership, evaluating system improvements, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and contributing to code quality and automation initiatives, with potential future work in Rust and WebAssembly.
• You will join Workato’s Engine team, a group focused on the performance, scalability, and reliability of the platform’s core runtime, working within a company trusted by 400,000+ global customers and recognized as a leader in enterprise orchestration, known for its innovative, trust-oriented culture that values ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and polyglot programming (Ruby, Go, Rust), gain hands-on experience with modern data infrastructure and observability tools, and grow as a technical leader by influencing cross-team initiatives and shaping the evolution of a high-scale automation platform.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong experience in building scalable distributed backend applications (7+ years)
• Excellent understanding of distributed systems patterns and algorithms
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, with primary focus on Ruby and growing use of GoLang and Rust
• Experience with cloud deployment technologies including Kubernetes, Terraform, and ArgoCD
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
