- • Lead the development and documentation of an Audit Plan to validate commission, bonus, and variable pay calculations for accuracy and alignment with approved plans and policies.
- • Review and validate monthly accruals for commissions, bonuses, and incentive programs, ensuring proper cut-off timing and compliance with GAAP and internal accounting standards.
- • Perform year-to-date (YTD) analysis of variable compensation, including trend analysis and variance comparisons against targets, prior periods, and business performance metrics.
- • Prepare consolidated monthly YTD actual compensation reports to support reasonableness checks for upcoming payouts, referencing on-target earnings (OTE) as defined in employment contracts.
- • Investigate significant fluctuations or anomalies in compensation data and provide clear, data-backed explanations to stakeholders.
- • Reconcile compensation data across multiple systems including payroll, Salesforce, and CaptivateIQ to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- • Verify supporting documentation such as sales performance metrics, target attainment, employment terms, and plan eligibility criteria for all incentive payouts.
- • Identify discrepancies in compensation calculations, determine root causes, and collaborate with Finance, HR, and Sales Operations teams to resolve issues under tight deadlines.
- • Maintain comprehensive audit trails and documentation for all reviews, adjustments, and control activities related to incentive compensation.
- • Support month-end and year-end close processes by ensuring accurate recording of variable compensation accruals and actuals.
- • Leverage AI tools to enhance internal controls, automate validation processes, and improve efficiency in compensation tracking, reporting, and accrual management.
- • Prepare dashboards and reports summarizing compensation trends, variances, adjustments, and compliance status for leadership and audit teams.
- • Provide audit support during internal and external financial audits by supplying required documentation, explanations, and evidence of control effectiveness.
- • Maintain and update policy documents related to Capitalized Contract Costs and other relevant accounting policies governing incentive compensation.
- • Ensure all compensation-related activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control frameworks.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- • 3 years of audit experience at a public accounting firm
- • 5-8 years of combined experience in auditing, accounting, or compensation analysis
- • Strong understanding of accrual accounting, cut-off principles, and internal controls
- • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, data analysis); experience with ERP and payroll systems preferred
- • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify trends or anomalies
