- • As a Lead Data Scientist at Cohere Inc., you will drive the mission forward by shaping go-to-market strategy for cutting-edge AI technology, designing experiments that prove or kill major business bets, and helping enterprises understand the real-world impact of foundational AI on their bottom line—owning the full analytical lifecycle from question framing to production deployment.
- • You will own the science by designing and leading experimentation programs including A/B tests, multi-armed bandits, and causal inference studies that directly inform product and go-to-market decisions; build predictive models for forecasting, segmentation, propensity scoring, and opportunity sizing across Cohere’s core business lines; and lead and grow a team of analysts and data scientists by setting the technical bar, mentoring aggressively, and fostering an environment where exceptional people thrive.
- • You will act like an owner by defining analytical priorities, allocating resources, and pushing initiatives from question to production without waiting for direction; and shape strategy by partnering across product, research, sales, and finance to define how Cohere grows, ensuring your team’s insights are built into products and implemented into company-wide strategy.
- • The Analytics and Data Insights team at Cohere operates at the frontier of AI commercialization, working closely with researchers, engineers, and business leaders to turn ambiguous business questions into rigorous analytical problems with clear, actionable recommendations—your work will directly influence how AI is adopted and valued in enterprise settings.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in experimental design, causal inference, and predictive modeling while developing leadership skills in managing complex multi-workstream roadmaps, mentoring high-performing technical talent, and translating data insights into concise, actionable narratives for executive stakeholders—positioning you at the intersection of AI innovation and business impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong command of SQL, Python, and Git, alongside deep expertise in statistical inference, experimental design, and predictive modeling
- • Proven ability to turn ambiguous business questions into rigorous analytical problems with clear and compelling recommendations
- • Experience leading analytics or data science teams with a track record of making smart people faster
- • Familiarity with modern data stack tools such as BigQuery, dbt, Looker, or Airflow (nice to have, not essential)
- • Genuine excitement about AI—you follow the research, have opinions, and enjoy being in the weeds
- • Comfort operating in ambiguity, managing complex multi-workstream roadmaps, and distilling insights into a concise, actionable narrative
- • A leadership style grounded in empathy as much as in data
