  • • Lead the technical sales motion in partnership with Account Executives, guiding prospects through discovery, demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and architecture discussions.
  • • Translate customer pain points into high-impact technical solutions that directly align with business value and outcomes.
  • • Build and deliver customized demos and proof-of-concepts using Python, Apache Airflow®, and related DataOps tools to showcase Astronomer’s Astro platform.
  • • Guide enterprise data teams through modern DataOps strategies, including orchestration, observability, automation, and pipeline optimization.
  • • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and marketing teams to influence product feedback loops and contribute to go-to-market strategy.
  • • Engage with data engineering teams at Fortune 500 and high-growth companies to demonstrate how Astro enables reliable, scalable, and secure data pipelines.
  • • Serve as the primary technical advisor during the sales cycle, addressing complex questions around cloud-native data architectures and enterprise-grade DataOps.
  • • Configure and deploy environments using Docker, CLI tools, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to validate technical fit and scalability.
  • • Educate prospects on the role of DAGs, ELT/ETL workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and observability in modern data infrastructure.
  • • Advocate for customer needs internally by surfacing product feedback, use cases, and technical requirements from enterprise engagements.
  • • Conduct regional client visits and technical workshops, with approximately 25% travel aligned with business needs.
  • • Maintain deep familiarity with industry platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, and similar data engineering tools.
  • • Work remotely from the Chicago area while supporting North American enterprise accounts and participating in virtual and in-person sales activities.
  • • Operate in a startup environment characterized by speed, autonomy, and a bias for action, with minimal bureaucracy and high ownership expectations.
  • • Represent Astronomer as a trusted technical authority in the DataOps space, leveraging the company’s position as the driving force behind Apache Airflow®.
  • • Partner with technical teams at customers like CondĂ© Nast, Rappi, and Sonos to understand their scaling challenges and demonstrate how Astro solves them.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Python fluency and comfort with CLI tools
  • • Experience building solutions with Docker and cloud-native data architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • • Understanding of data engineering workflows: orchestration, ELT/ETL, DAGs, and CI/CD
  • • 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as Sales Engineering or Solutions Architecture
  • • Familiarity with Airflow, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, or similar platforms
  • • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
