Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the next generation of AI-powered business services at Williams Lea, a 200-year-old global leader trusted by the world’s top investment banks, law firms and professional-services giants. In this fully-remote, permanent role you will own the end-to-end machine-learning lifecycle for high-stakes, client-facing products that process millions of sensitive documents and drive measurable revenue growth.
- • Architect, train and deploy state-of-the-art models and agentic AI systems that classify, extract and analyse legal, financial and operational data at enterprise scale. You will choose the right algorithms—ranging from classical supervised learning to cutting-edge generative and NLP techniques—to solve real-world problems such as contract analytics, fraud-risk scoring and document triage.
- • Own the cloud backbone: design secure, auto-scaling ML platforms on AWS using SageMaker, Lambda, S3, Athena, Redshift and more. Build repeatable Infrastructure-as-Code templates with CloudFormation and Terraform so that every experiment, pipeline and production service can be spun up or torn down in minutes, not days.
- • Establish robust MLOps and CI/CD discipline. Create containerised training and inference workflows with Docker, orchestrate them through Jenkins or GitHub Actions, and monitor model drift, latency and cost in real time. Champion best-practice versioning, automated testing and rollback strategies to guarantee 99.9 % uptime for business-critical services.
- • Translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with data scientists, software engineers, product managers and client stakeholders across the US, UK and India to define KPIs, gather training data and iterate rapidly in two-week Scrum sprints. Present findings to non-technical executives, translating precision-recall curves into clear ROI narratives.
- • Mentor and technically lead a small, distributed team of ML engineers. Conduct rigorous code reviews, run brown-bag sessions on new frameworks and foster a culture of continuous learning. Balance hands-on development (70 %) with strategic oversight (30 %) to ensure every release meets security, compliance and performance benchmarks.
- • Safeguard highly confidential client data. Embed privacy-by-design principles, enforce encryption in transit and at rest, and ensure full adherence to GDPR and sector-specific regulations. Build audit-ready logging and lineage systems that satisfy both internal risk teams and external regulators.
- • Drive innovation through experimentation. Maintain a living roadmap of PoCs that explore emerging techniques—few-shot learning, retrieval-augmented generation, graph neural networks—and rapidly graduate the most promising ideas into revenue-generating products. Track success through A/B tests and incremental lift in client SLAs.
- • Optimise for cost and carbon efficiency. Leverage SageMaker multi-model endpoints, spot-instance training and intelligent auto-scaling policies to cut cloud spend by double-digit percentages while maintaining sub-second inference latency for global users.
- • Champion knowledge sharing across the wider 7,000-person Williams Lea community. Publish internal tech blogs, speak at client roundtables and contribute to open-source tooling that positions the company as the undisputed leader in tech-enabled business services.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning or related field with 5+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying ML models in production
- • Expert-level Python proficiency (pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch) and proven ability to design scalable data pipelines on AWS (SageMaker, S3, Lambda, Athena, Redshift)
- • Demonstrated experience owning MLOps/CI-CD workflows using Docker, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, CloudFormation/Terraform and monitoring tools for model drift and performance
- • Strong grasp of statistics, algorithm optimisation and model evaluation; familiarity with NLP, generative AI or financial/legal data modelling is highly advantageous
- • Track record of leading technical projects or small teams in an Agile environment, with excellent stakeholder communication skills and a client-first mindset
🏖️ Benefits
- • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, fully remote working and flexible 37.5-hour week (Mon-Fri, 8:30-17:00 with 1-hour break)
- • Comprehensive benefits package: private medical & dental insurance, life assurance, annual health assessments, cycle-to-work and discounted gym memberships
- • Salary sacrifice schemes and retail vouchers—including TechScheme for Smart TVs, laptops and household appliances
- • Clear career development pathways within a 200-year-old, innovation-driven global employer serving Fortune 500 clients
